New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mare of Easttown on HBO has been awesome. Kate Winslet is phenomenal. Only 7 episodes with 2 remaining. Definitely recommend.
Just binged Eps 1-5 on Thursday night and loved it. Was fun watching it with my California friend who's never lived in the midwest. Even though Eastern PA is different then NE Ohio, there was still so much about the small town life and atmosphere that I related to and recalled from my first 20 years spent in north Summit County. To my friend who's only ever lived in SoCal, it was like a different country on the screen lol. Kate Winslet is crushing that role and the rest of the cast is great too. Yes, it's another detective show, but it's a lot more than that and just done so well so far. Looking forward to these last two episodes and hope they nail the dismount and landing.

Has anyone mentioned Hacks on HBO Max? Just watched the first 4 episodes last night and i loved it...but i like the story behind stand up comedy.

Haven't seen it yet but Jean Smart has been excellent in Mare of Eastown so far, so I'll probably check out Hacks next.

She basically plays Joan RIvers with a long Vegas residency. Its well done.

Thank you for mentioning Mare of Eastown. Wow, what a show, i binged all 6 episodes over the weekend and cant wait for the conclusion on Sunday

If any more shows on HBO are worth watching and binging let me know, I dont think I use HBO enough, i got it for Entourage and Curb years ago and keep it because its free now. But the shows are awesome and i just dont watch enough.

HBO has a pretty amazing backlog.

The Wire, Deadwood, The Sopranos, Watchmen, Oz, Barry, Vice Principals, Boardwalk Empire, Succession, Rome, Game of Thrones, The Deuce, Treme...

No shortage of great content. Lots of good miniseries too like Band of Brothers.

I have seen The Wire (good but not sure if best show ever, but huge law and order fan and same producer, so there is that,)
Barry Is amazing one of the greatest shows, love the dark humor, wish it would come back to finish
The Sapranos was very good in the begining but starting getting drawn out
Vice Priniciples I gave it a couple of episodes, never could get into it
The Deuce was amazing, wish it lasted longer than 3 seasons.
Treme, New Orleans is my favorite town, and this is my favorite show about New Orelans/

Never watched GOT, and probably should. Watchmen, Succession, Boardwalk Empire, OZ, never saw either, maybe i should binge, i am not too much in to SCI FI so thus i havent been motivated to watch GOT....which of these should i watch?

Edit, I really like Crashing, i just love shows about comedy and the guest stars on that show were amazing and loved the comedy. Anything else like that? I guess Hacks is the closest, the guest star level hasnt been the same as Crashing thus far.

If you're going to go with Watchmen, I'd highly recommend reading the graphic novel, as the show exists as a sequel to it. If you'd rather not invest the time (it's a pretty long graphic novel and has a lot of pages of pure text in the form of excerpts from a novel by one of the characters) in that, you can watch the Zach Snyder movie, which completely misses the mark tonally and visually but mostly sticks to the story, frame for frame in many cases. The ending is different, and if you go with the movie you can either post here and I'll tell you the difference or you can google it, although that could risk finding show spoilers.

Also, Game of Thrones isn't sci-fi. It's medieval fantasy.

Succession is probably the best of those shows. I'd probably rate Watchmen second, and it's only a single season so not much of a commitment. Then Boardwalk Empire and Oz are about equal in my eyes as very compelling but flawed shows.

I really dont read for pleasure and i get its fantasy, not sci-fi, but not a genre I typically like either....but thanks for the list.

The Leftovers is pretty awesome in my opinion. Three seasons. Pretty heavy though at times. Each season relates to the last but has a pretty big tone or setting change. Some really great acting though and my introduction to Carrie Coon who is so good the further and further the show gets.

Deadwood, the Newsroom, and all the old Larry Sanders shows are first rate. Eastbound and Down, Sharp Objects, and the first and third seasons of True Detective are worthwhile. Chernobyl is a must see show.

I found Sharp Objects to be boring as fuck. Like, it looked like a show I should like with quality acting and gorgeous cinematography but holy shit I could not get into it at all.
