New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Rock could be that, he just chooses not to. He sticks with PG-13 movies and he's always the good guy. Cena, on the other hand, has been willing to go outside of his comfort zone and do R-rated films and play characters who aren't generic cardboard cutout heroes.

It's the same as the difference between Batista and Rock. Batista wants to be an actor. Rock wants to protect his image/brand.

Even if Dwayne leaned into rated R stuff, or if Cena went to Dwayne… Cena out acts him. Cena would have crushed the Jumanji reboots.

Cena is INSANELY funny because his timing is elite. I firmly believe you’d struggle to make Peacemaker good without Cena’s timing, because while the writing is funny, it’s Cena that carries it. I loved Cena the wrestler, and thought he’d be a horrendous actor because I’d just see John Cena… but he’s ridiculously good at both action and comedy.

Batista is, outside of MCU, very similar to Dwayne for me. But also… it’s Batista. He’s the coolest.

Batista actually tries to take roles that aren't simple action roles, unlike Rock. He's just somewhat limited in the roles he can get because he's a massive person. I appreciate that he wants to be a legitimate actor, though, and unlike Rock he takes roles that are interesting and don't play to type.

I agree on Cena, though. He's been wildly entertaining as Peacemaker. Better than I ever thought he'd be. He and the guy who plays Vigilante have great chemistry.

Cena was also great in Blockers a few years back

He is also good in vacation friends. I just watched that on Hulu the other day.

On the flip side of Rock vs Cena, Young Rock is a really well made show. The show is centered around the Rocks life but is really made by the side characters around him. The Ed Orgeron character is great and all the wrestlers that his dad wrestled with really make his youngest self years interesting. The way the break up the show into 3 different timelines is also unique.

Cena and the Rock are very similar in terms of the way they were cutting promos in WWF/E to be funny. But I think where Cena has the edge is he's much better at improv. But most importantly, Cena doesn't seem to be afraid to make an ass of himself. Most of Dwayne's roles seem fairly protected where Cena is much more willing to be the butt of the joke. Peacemaker is 10x better than anything the Rock ever did IMO. Actually already one of my favourite shows and one I recommend to literally everyone I know. My only issue with it so far is I feel like they're moving super quick. But it's more because I don't know how much content they have the ability to create long term...

The theme song/intro is fkn incredible too. It randomly pops in my head from time to time and makes me happy.

The intro lives rent free in my head. Doesn’t help that my best friend blares it over the headset whenever we’re gaming together, either. :chuckle:

I started watching Mayor of Kingstown. Does Taylor Sheridan not know that laws exist? Because in both of these shows people break a frankly absurd amount of laws with zero consequence, and in this one none of them are rich enough to realistically get away with it.

Anyone watching this season of Billions? I haven't checked it out yet. The ad for it doesn't have Ax as the antagonist. Is he off the show now?

Is it just me or is this new season of Billions absolutely awful so far?

I was skeptical it'd be able to survive without Axe, but this has been worse than I ever could have imagined.

As of now I'll give it another episode or two but I'm pretty close to quitting this show.
@Hurl Bruce

I've already quit watching. It's cooked.

The actor's (Damian Lewis) wife died and he took some time off away from acting.

Possible he returns I think.. but I'm not actively tracking it.

Finally getting around to watching The Witcher after trying and failing to get through the first episode about three or four times. It does get a lot better after the first episode, which kind of sucks. The second and third episodes are pretty good.

All the time jumps without any on-screen indicators make the show a jumbled mess, though, especially considering most of the show's main characters don't age or really ever change their appearance.

The 2nd season is vastly superior.

You weren't kidding.

What a major step up. A consistent plot without all the jumping around does wonders. The second season has a lot more political intrigue too, which helps considerably.

Also, kudos to Henry Cavill. He is Geralt from the games. He looks the part and he fucking nails the iconic voice that Doug Cockle provides in the games. I know he's a fan of the games and he shows it in his performance with the way he deadpans lines and has the same shitty, sarcastic sense of humor that Geralt has in the games.
