NFL Week 1 (9/7/14): Browns @ Steelers [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
its was a game. the browns lost. now on to the next game. lol i never understood how sports could turn fans into such dramatic emos

it takes emotional stamina to be a browns fan..

We were in the game with a minute 23 left, and blew it. That is remarkable given that we played some pretty shitty defense ( gave up 490 net yards). You might win such a game with a Big Ben, or Tom Brady at the helm, but we will need better than that to give Hoyer a chance. God help us if were were to face the Seahawks. It would be a track meet.

At the end of the day it was a pretty typical Browns game. They found a way to lose a game that they were in a position to win.

At the end of the day, you only make negative Browns posts. Nothing good to take from the game, you have the right to boo out of the gate next Sunday.

If the final score is the only thing that matters, I'm not sure why you watch. What does it matter how they get there if you just ignore all of it because of the final?

Give me a win and I'll be positive.

Fan police are back.

If you can't see grey area, then what's the point of watching? All I ask.

And yes, if you're only in here when something bad happens, I'm going to call you on it.

400 yards of offense in Pittsburgh is not typical.

If this is a mirage, then yes, it is a very Browns performance to blow their wad and lose it anyways. But if they become a viable NFL offense running this no huddle, stretch run offense, then it's a loss I can stomach.

My favorite is seeing "we should have played for overtime there!!" from all the same people who would be saying "we just played not to lose" after we lost in overtime.

I understand that we were backed up in our own territory with only 2 minutes left and driving into field goal range would be difficult. It just amuses me.

The fact is that Justin Gilbert currently does not deserve to be playing cornerback in the NFL. Right now he is an abysmal player who is hurting the entire defense. The missed tackles hurt, but even so we win that game if Gilbert plays like only a slightly below-average CB.

The offense was all out of sync in the first half. I'm not going to blame Shanahan or the players though...first half of the first game with a new coaching staff in a stadium where we've never won before. Sure, same old excuses...but maybe not. Because I have never seen a Browns team bounce back from adversity like that before. The adjustments worked beautifully and we looked like a legitimate football team with a stable of above average RBs we can lean on. We did what we did with zero quality WRs or TEs playing...I'm actually going to applaud Shanahan and I can say I feel pretty comfortable with this staff right now.

All in all, it was a heart breaker. We shouldn't have come out of the gates so shitty, and we deserved to lose. But after all the talking from Pettine about not being the same old Browns who get hit in the mouth and roll over, his team actually backed it up yesterday. Just couldn't close the deal.

We're 0-1. Cameron, our only threatening pass catcher, is banged up and probably will be for the foreseeable future. I pray to God Gordon is miraculously reinstated. And I pray to God that Cleveland has some really shitty weather next week when the Saints are in town.

What I'm saying is we've seen this team play well against good teams before. We kicked New England's ass for 58 minutes on their home field last year. Really, it shouldn't surprise anyone when when the Browns do certain things well. There is talent on this team.

But you have to be able to execute in situations where the game is on the line, and the Browns have not shown that they're capable of doing so.

If I'm negative it's because I think the Browns are capable of winning more than they have. This isn't 1999 where they're rolling out a team full of guys that don't belong in the NFL. Like I said, there is talent on this team.

We are just sick of being let down over and over and over again. You come back that much only to fck up and lose by a field goal? Seriously? I really don't care about the positives the team has shown in the game. You don't deserve to be congratulated when you fck up a game you are given towards the end. The defense, which is suppose to be our greatest advantage, looked like hell. Play calling looked a tad bit better this year but still fumbled the game when it really mattered.

You can't have a winning environment with a losing team. Players need to win to gain confidence in themselves and their team. Not pulling this game out and literally and figuratively getting kicked in the face, was hugely detrimental. No matter how hard the Browns try, even steal a game right from underneath the Steelers, still can't win.
