Nobody Beats The Wiz Khalifa Diop

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Almost 10 boards in less than 20 mpg sounds interesting. Of course, the competition is probably crap. Don't sleep on Brobley as potentially filling that hole next year as well.

I did the PER36 because it's tough to interpret per game Euro stats to NBA stats because the games are shorter, the rotation is deeper and the games are played a slower pace. Few players average more than 20 mins a game.

I just wanted to show that he was the best rebounder on his team. In a league with less athleticism, it's always possible that the skill won't translate to the NBA, but rebounding usually translates and at least he's got something that could translate.

Brobley? Seems like there's a lot of overlap between Dean Wade and Isaiah, and one has a long term contract.

Except Isaiah has played a good NBA game more recently than Wade. His playmaking and ability to be a hub is pretty interesting to me

I am really intrigued by Diop. He is faster than Allen. Could be a cool look

I'm really excited about Diop developing with his Nigerian national team as well. He's likely to play with Monte Morris, Jordan Nwora, Josh Okogie, and some other young players with potential. We have seen how international ball has helped some of our young players before.

I would be genuinely surprised if Dean is on this team next year. His confidence is gone & he looks horrendous. At halftime during game 1 I noticed he was Breckinridge quite a bit of shots in warm ups and thought it would be funny to count. He then went 2 for 9 (after already shooting like shit).

We will be able to upgrade the wing and our PF; his contract will then be expendable.

He plays for Senegal, not Nigeria.

Khalifa Diop

Drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 39th Pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Diop was one of the most proven players coming into the 2022 Draft. With two full seasons of high-level experience in the Spanish ACB under his belt, Diop was already a key rotation player for Gran Canaria by the time last year’s draft rolled around. Diop has stepped up yet again this year, now becoming a starter for Gran Canaria and maintaining his overall levels of efficiency despite seeing more minutes per game.

Diop’s game was never the most eye-popping and this year has been no exception, but while limited, he plays extremely well within his role. Listed at 7-foot-1 Diop has the size and strength to withstand physicality at the center position, but he is also more mobile, coordinated and explosive than you would expect for his size. As such, he’s able to run the floor, roll to the basket and catch lobs with speed and power. Defensively, he’s a powerful leaper off a standstill, which allows him to act as the last line of defense, protect the rim when dribble penetration occurs and secure defensive rebounds.

While there’s value in holding Diop’s draft rights, it’s hard to see the Cavs having any hurry in bringing the senegalese center over, considering they have two of the best young big men in the NBA on long term contracts. Cleveland could look to bring Diop and have him as a rotation piece on a rookie contract who is ready to play minutes from day one. Otherwise, his draft rights hold value and could be included in a trade to move up or to gain additional picks in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Thing I like best about Diop is the ease with which he elevates. Not quite Mobley, bit similar , just bigger guy.

If you don't realize he is 7'1" he doesn't look crazy explosive. But at his size, it's pretty impressive. Hefty dude
