I think the more time goes by without odell the more people revert back to the legend of odell rather than the player odell

Everyone always dances around it because they don’t want to have a hot take, but I really don’t care. The problem with Odell is he hasn’t played like a top 30 receiver.

It’s not Baker’s fault. It’s not coach’s fault. It’s not a coincidence how much better our offense was as soon as he went out.

He’s just not a very good receiver at this point. I honestly didn’t watch much of the Giants. I relied on this board for analysis on him. Then I watched every single game he played on the Browns and he is pretty clearly worse than Landry who himself is probably fringe top 20-25 WR

I know no one wants to say it, but the problem is OBJ just isn’t what he apparently once was. He had plenty of drops, plenty of times where he didn’t make plays that top WRs routinely make. Excuses get made over and over for one reason or another, but I’m confident Beckham will be just as bad next year. I really hope I’m wrong for obvious reasons, but the reluctance to just call his poor performance out and blame it on everything else is frustrating to me

The legend of odell Beckham is FAR greater than the player Odel Beckham

He got 1000yds on 14ypc while playing last season in a complete clusterfuck situation and a *sports hernia*. This year he had the same 14ypc before he tore his ACL. While I won't say he's top 3-5 receiver in the League until he proves it again, to say a guy gets 1000yds WITH A SPORTS HERNIA "is not a very good receiver" is more than a bit ridiculous.

63 yards per game stopped being the standard quite some time ago

I don’t consider 1000 yards very good and I don’t really care about an injury. It’s the nfl. Everyone is always injured. I spent an entire offseason hearing about how the sports hernia held him back and watch out for next year

Then he was just as mediocre outside of the Dallas game

59 yards per game as a brown. 55.1% completion pct when thrown to

Baker has better stats throwing to literally everyone else. Like at some point a spade is a damn spade

I completely agree that the "legend" is greater than reality. He's more famous than he is good. He's also no longer the player he was the first couple years in New York. He's never been the same after that catastrophic ankle injury.

I think placing him outside the top 30 WR's is a bit much. I still had him as a top-10 receiver in the AFC (not gonna go through the entire NFL, but I imagine that places him somewhere around the top 20-25 in the league).

I hope he comes back, and just adds another spice to the meal that is our offense that we've been missing. But, if for some reason he ruins the dish, he has no guaranteed money from us outside of this coming season, so it's not hard to move on from him.
I think we’re mostly on the same page, but I would be sniffing around to see what the market is for him. I really don’t think he’s the missing piece or anything like that which was a popular stance after the Chiefs game

If you don't care about a player having a sports hernia then i don't know what to tell you. I hope you're superman in your real life.

My point is that everyone plays hurt in the NFL. Jarvis had broken ribs and I didn’t hear any excuses from this (to be fair to odell he was not the one making excuses, others made them non stop for him)

But the point remains that he was even less productive this year even INCLUDING the Dallas game. If you take that out then he was basically non-existent

If it was really the hernia holding him back, what happened this year?

OBJ is a damn good WR. When heathy, the best in the division and top 10 in the AFC. If he puts in the work, which I think he will, he will be greatly relied upon this upcoming year. Only way to beat KC, is to out run and out score them. OBJ can definitely help us there and that should be our main goal as a team now. Speed and more speed.

Top 10 in AFC? I know injuries and offense has him down? But not sure there are 10 WR's better in the NFL much less AFC when healthy. But i get your point, i still say he will be a luxury we cant afford after we pay Mayfield, and then Ward and Chubb....but that isnt anything to do with skill.

I think if you stop at just the yards then you'd have a point. OBJ would be just a decent receiver. But when you watch the play-by-play film, he has gotten open A LOT. Dude is still a scary talent on the field.

I know we all expected huge things when we traded for him but I believe the lack of production has more to do with Baker and the poor Baker-OBJ chemistry than anything else.

Don’t know this guy but let the nuttiness begin…

Imagine turning on AM sports radio in your town and hearing a guy come on and after 2 minutes thinking, “that’s the hackiest sports guy I’ve ever heard.”

That’s Dan Sileo. He has no sources and I’m shocked he has a job.

Used to hear him in Orlando and he was brutal. He gets fired a lot for the wrong reasons. Not early Howard Stern reasons.

What? Why wouldn't he have a job?

Who wouldn't want to hear a sexist, racist, roided-out has been (or rather, never was), make shit up?

I completely forgot that he was on here in the Tampa Bay area for a while.

Yeah he was terrible.

Give Mark Madden his damn respect.
