I think people are underestimating how OBJ is going to look when he comes back from an ACL tear.

It's documented that OBJ is one of the hardest working athletes in all of sports when it comes to working on his craft. That's one of the reasons why I was never worried about KD coming back from his achilles because he lives and breathes basketball. Same with Klay Thompson. That dude works insanely hard. He'll bounce back just fine too.

Allen Robinson tore his ACL in week one of a season and he's recovered so well that I bet you most people forgot that he even tore his ACL and missed an entire season before.

OBJ is going to have extensive time to recover and get his body right. I know I'm not going to doubt him and his recovery.

Hes one of the very few athletes I follow on social media. If you look at some of the things he posts, he's already damn close.

As the offense developed without OBJ, the concept of a ready-made offense adding him back into the mix is a challenge that should be embraced.

Over the top, underneath, especially in the red zone.

They established their foundational principles on the ground and through PA, but the arrow has to be pointing upwards to add a motivated OBJ back into the mix.

I have no problem with OBJ, none, zero, I think he is a good teammate, great receiver, ect.

My issue is we cant afford him and Landry long-term as we need to strengthen other positions, pay Baker, Ward and Chubb ect. Something has to give imo.

That doesn't mean I want to give OBJ away or don't value him as a player. Zero off field issues, passionate, cares more about winning than almost anyone, his teammates seem to love him, top 5 WR in talent, ect. Lots to like. I have never thought he got a fair shake in the media so I could care less about the media bullshit with him.

Do you think that his broken ankle in 2017 had any adverse effect on him in 2018?

My point is that everyone plays hurt in the NFL. Jarvis had broken ribs and I didn’t hear any excuses from this (to be fair to odell he was not the one making excuses, others made them non stop for him)

But the point remains that he was even less productive this year even INCLUDING the Dallas game. If you take that out then he was basically non-existent

If it was really the hernia holding him back, what happened this year?
I'll bite. This year the offense was mostly a cluster fuck until at some point after the Cinci game (coincidently the game Beckham got hurt in). Baker was still a mess until after that point of the season, our offense still didn't understand their identity and they were still inconsistent as hell. It was after that point of the season where Stefanski, Baker, and the offense as a whole started to get their legs under them, understand their roles, started to form somewhat of an identity.

Covid protocols, Zoom practices, constant disruption all while learning a completely new offense from a first year head coach and OC. Sometimes it takes awhile, and I don't blame anyone including Odell. To the contrary, I think they all came through the adversity admirably.

My opinion is that if Odell wouldn't have gotten hurt, he would have started to thrive as another weapon. If he is able to come back healthy I predict he'll do so in the coming season.

Not entirely. I don't think his ankle has been an issue since the surgery. The core muscle and hernia were different injures that slowed him down.

"Not entirely?" Does that mean you think that he suffered no lingering effects at all from that ankle in the next year? So if anyone were to criticize his performance from that period of his career, the ankle would be no excuse at all?

Whole segment on Get Up this morning about how it makes sense for OBJ to go the Bucs for, what they say should be a 1st round pick. OBJ and TB are tight, tried to get together before. TB losing Godwin, OBJ would save them money for the other guys they gotta pay.

I'd drive him there myself for another high pick to build out the defense with. No chance it happens though.

How would trading OBJ and his contract look like exactly? Do the browns have to pay any of the guarantees? Does it change how much cap space they have (whether good or not)? If we could trade him and not be the books for any of his salary, then I could get behind it if it meant the Browns got a good asset. I still would like to see OBJ and Baker together after this season, but if Barry can get a 1st out of him then maybe it's worth doing.

when the browns traded for him, the giants ate all of his cap hit as related to bonus money. The NFL is different than every other major sport in that trading a player is very similar to just cutting him. So in this case all of his signing bonus money which is normally spread over the course of a contract as far as cap hits go, instead just got eaten by the giants when they traded him.

The rest of OBJs contract is essentially 3 1 year options for 15ish million each year. Meaning if the browns were to trade him or cut him there would be no impact to the browns cap space. This is why it doesnt make sense to try and restructure OBJ's contract.

That said OBJ is not going to have significant value right now. He is coming off and ACL tear, and 2 years of only moderate production, while at the same time being paid as a top 15 WR.

I see, but doesn't the injury guarantee his contract now? I thought I read that on here before. I agree with the last sentence 100%.
