On The Clock: 2020 RCF NFL Mock Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know what is longer, @MGMT making a pick after I PMed him or that new Bob Dylan song about JFK. They feel equally long...

Ill expound later but in the interest of moving this thing forward, Sorry guys.

Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois

With the 95th pick in the 2020 RCF Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Troy Pride, CB, Notre Dame.

PFF during the senior bowl:

Day 1:

"Troy Pride Jr., a former outside cornerback for Notre Dame, couldn't have had a better first day at the Senior Bowl. He was a fantastic interview that is aware of where his game needs to get better to start the next level, and his reps in the one-on-one drills were special. He was in SMU wideout James Proche‘s back pocket for the entire practice and even logged a pass breakup on a slant from Pittman."

Day 2:

"I’m not sure anyone has risen their draft stock more with their performance this week than the Notre Dame cornerback. In a fairly weak cornerback group here in Mobile, Pride has been the clear cream of the crop. He’s locked down Michael Pittman Jr., James Proche and Quartney Davis on highly impressive reps through the first couple days. His elite speed and smooth hips have him completely unafraid of getting beaten deep. With question marks about his press technique and ability to play the catch point heading into the week, Pride has been fantastic in both."

NFL.com:

Overview
Pride's height, weight, speed and athleticism are all pro-ready, but there is a lack of confidence and consistency that prevents him from reaching his athletic potential. Despite the track speed, he struggles to stay in phase with intermediate and deep routes and gets lost with his back to the ball. He needs to be paired with a scheme that allows him to play more off-man and zone so he can keep the game in front of him and use his burst to close coming downhill. Pride has pro traits, but he also has NFL-backup tape.
Strengths
  • Can be effective/confident from off coverage
  • Easy hip turn to flow with the release from press
  • Adequate foot quickness and athleticism
  • Good recognition and response to play-action. Sprinter on the Notre Dame track team
  • Gains depth quickly to handle high/low coverage duties from zone
  • Adequate response level to what he sees
  • Quick stick and drive downhill from the top of his pedal
  • Solid performance against Clemson in 2018 playoff despite the loss, allowing just two catches for 12 yards
Weaknesses
  • Very modest career ball production relative to traits
  • Disappointing competitiveness challenging end-zone throws
  • Doesn't meet receivers at the high-point
  • Allowed four touchdowns in 2019 and all came too easily
  • Allows too much operation space on 50/50 balls
  • Loses route phase and positioning
  • Allows himself to get stacked vertically
  • Panicked and grabby with his back to the football
  • Too much ankle biting as tackler
  • Won't bolster your run support

@camakazee is on the clock

With the 96th pick in the 2020 RCF NFL Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...

Malik Harrison, LB, Ohio State

Why? Linebacker is a current need for the Chiefs as well as one they’ll need to address in the future. Harrison is a consistent tackler who will contribute on special teams immediately while adding depth the linebacker corps.

Made the pick from the phone so no razzle dazzle. Keeping it moving and up next is @SixPACK and Da Bears.

So I think there is reason to celebrate:

Only ten picks to go!

When @Soda and I talked about this mock, we thought it could help the realbrownsfans.com website before the draft. There could be some analysis, because right before the first round begins people flood search engines for mock drafts.

Despite some slow downs caused by Covid-19, we are close to hitting the goal. Let's finish this thing up as soon as we can.

Go Browns!

Just going to say that if you do the search function with the name of the player you are intending to draft, and limit the search to this thread, you can find out really quickly if the guy you want already has been drafted.

With the 97th pick in the RBF NFL COVID-19 STAY-AT-HOME ORDER IN THE COURT-LAND SUTTON FOR MVP DRAFT, the Chicago Bears select.....

AJ TERRELL - CB - CLEMSON

Why I personally picked him for the Bears: Although the Bears do need help on the OLine, specifically right guard with the retirement of Kyle Long, 4/5 of their positions are presumably set. Alex Bars, the RG that was behind Long, turned down an offer to go to the Patriots to take over the RG spot for the Bears. Now it may not be the best OLine in the NFL, but with all the prospects that fell off and with not a lot of draft capital to trade up to grab one, the Bears went with a different direction on this pick. On top of that, with the pickup of Claypool in the 2nd and the addition of QB competition with Foles/Mitch, hopefully the offense will pick up and open up the run game.

The cornerbacks also need help opposite of Kyle Fuller. Prince Amukamara is gone and that leaves newly signed 1-year prove it deal in Artie Burns from Steelers, Kevin Tolliver, and Tre Roberson. We’re talking about a first-round bust, an undrafted free agent and a CFL-converted quarterback. Adding a highly-drafted player to the mix feels like a good idea for both the short- and long term.

In comes AJ Terrell. It was too good to pass up especially late 3rd for Terrell. He is projected to go in the late 1st or early 2nd, and he dropped to late 3rd. His coverage in man-to-man isn't the best, as seen in the National Championship game, but he is still a stud. The Bears only played man-to-man 25% of the time and Pagano is known to load up the secondary, which will help Terrell transition to the NFL and get better an man-to-man.

Strengths
  • Played in high-leverage matchups in the postseason
  • Has ability to grind on receivers from press
  • Punches inside shoulder and leverages release outside
  • Backpedal is low and steady
  • Adequate foot agility to mirror
  • Patient allowing release to develop before declaring hips
  • Maintains feel in early stages of the route and is quick to crowd the receiver
  • Hip flip from pedal is twitchy and relatively clean
  • Reads quarterback's eyes from Cover 3 shuffle
  • Plays into receivers in tight quarters, disrupting catch timing
  • Springy jump-ball challenger with plus body control and soft hands
Weaknesses
  • Took on water in National Championship Game against LSU
  • Could face concerns about handling jump in competition
  • Leggy, with thin lower half and high center of gravity
  • Struggles to gather and remain in phase with comebacks
  • Pops up tall and false-steps driving downhill from top of his pedal
  • Angles to the catch-point need to become more aggressive
  • Loses focus from Cover 3 shuffle, allowing receivers to get behind
  • Recovery speed appears to be very average
  • Needs to fill and support run with better consistency
  • Takes angles of an arm tackler

The PATRIOTS and @Soda are up next with the 98th pick!!
