They said a significant trade has gone down and an announcement will be made soon.

Didnt say who was involved, anybody listening fill me in, I have to goto work.

have it on now... just Rome show?

4PM press conference from the Indians to announce a "significant trade" is what they just said

I guess this is it... big thumbs down from me unless we didn't have to give up much. I can't believe they are calling this "significant":

The Indians are on the verge of acquiring Rangers outfielder Kenny Lofton, a source said Friday afternoon.

An official announcement could be made later today.

It's uncertain whom the Indians are giving up in the trade.

Indians General Manager Mark Shapiro and Assistant General Manager Chris Antonetti could not be reached.

Lofton is the Indians' all-time leading base stealer and a fan favorite. Lofton, 40, is hitting .303 with seven homers and 23 RBI for the Rangers. He has 21 steals, and he's making $6 million this year.

He most recently played for the Tribe from 1998 through 2001.

Loftan for max ramirez that catcher we got from atlanta less than a year ago.

If that's what they are holding an announcement about, that's pretty lame.

Yeah, there better be more to this than us acquiring a 40 year-old outfielder for a minor-league catcher.

I'm pretty sure that's it... sorry to disapoint. Remember you heard it from me first though.

Yeah that's what I'm seeing as well LBJ. boo

horrible trade

Hey at least we probably won't have to see much more of Delucchi or Nixon...I'd rather see Lofton/Michaels/Guttierrez out there.

I don't know much about that guy - the catcher. Is he really worth it? Seems we have a couple catchers ahead of him. Would he have had an opportunity in the bigs with us?

Dellucci has been hurt for a month and he was actually playing OK when he did get hurt. The OF could now be Lofton getting the majority of time in left and Gutierrez in right. And Michaels was actually having a decent year. And we now have to figure out what to do with Francisco. Unless another deal is coming this trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me... just too many guys for too few positions.

He played in the futures game

We have Victor who is solid and a core guy. We needed a corner outfielder and Cleveland fans will welcome Loftan back. Easy reasons to why we did this.

I believe they were trying to convert him into a position player in A ball. He's a solid prospect as a hitter but is basically a guy with no position. I don't think he would have been able to help us in the majors for at least 2 or 3 more years. I have no problem dealing him, I just don't understand why we have to have 5 or 6 outfielders. Especially with bullpen and SP problems.

I know nothing about him, but from what I've read we're getting ripped off.
