We have Victor who is solid and a core guy. We needed a corner outfielder and Cleveland fans will welcome Loftan back. Easy reasons to why we did this.

Michaels
Gutierrez
Francisco
Choo (in minors but a decent talent)

I'm failing to see our need for corner outfielders...

This changes everything...

Seriously cdt. I don't see how this puts us over the top... Look out Detroit!

Hopefully we can move Grady out of the leadoff spot.. Your leadoff hitter should not be the league leader in strikeouts..

K-Love was great in the day, but I don't see how acquiring a 40 year old outfielder, whose forte was speed, will help this team. I would rather see the young kids platooning time with serviceable vets. At least you get to see what you have in the wings. Of course, this is a trade with Texas, and if taking on K-Love means getting Gagne, well, then bravo.

That is one thing I will welcome... having a true leadoff hitter again. Then do you move Grady to 2 and drop Blake down to like 7? It certainly improves our overall team speed.

Don't get me wrong, I was always a big Kenny guy. I'm just skeptical that he can keep motoring along for the rest of the year at age 40. But he did look like he still has something in that series against us last weekend.

I was thinking the same thing AO... it might make more sense if we included Francisco for Gagne. But I can just see Gagne getting hurt the instant he steps on the mound...

Cliff Lee is going to get sent down to the Minors too...

This Ramirez guy is still learning to play catcher.I would say he is like a Victor, doesnt have much speed at all.Has some pop in his bat and can drive in runs.He is supposed to have potential to pretty darn good in a few years.

He's faster then any those outfielders and he's 40. He's still making sportscenter top plays. Easy for you to say we don't need a corner outfielder, but in reality we do. Les Levine would agree, call him and ask. Not to mention he's a vet.

a) He has speed, Francisco might be a little faster
b) he's hittin .300
c) he's hit .300 the past 3 years.

Ramirez had no future in Cleveland. Hafner, Victor, and Garko have the DH, C, and 1B spots locked up for the foreseeable future. Ramirez is a long long way from defensively being anywhere close to ready, but the dood is a flat out masher. I think he probably could have been used to get a better return back, but Im certaintly not upset by this trade at all.

As has been mentioned this allows us to move Grady down to 3 where he belongs. Can you imagine Sizemore batting with Vic protecting him? Or Vic batting with Lofton and Grady in front of him?

Still I wouldnt be surprised to see Wedge stick Kenny down at 7th or 8th or I guess 2nd if he doesnt care about two lefties back to back. May be the case tonight vs. the right hand pitcher if Kenny makes it in time for the game.

How a couple of you say this is a bad trade is shocking to me.

Kenny will bring more butts to the stadium, play good defense, hit for average, steal bases, provide veteran leadership and thats a bad thing for a catcher that wont see the field for the Indians.

Hey, we actually have a player who can bunt now. This brings so many more senarios to our offense. :)

Wasn't that bunt beautiful ?

Lofton returns to Cleveland with a bang. Beat the Twins 10-4 and goes 3-5 with an RBI.

Niceee

And he's rocking number 7 again
