Peyton Manning Just...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who cares what he does with it? I mean in all reality he did EARN the money. I would think he would donate it to a fund just because he is Manning but who knows and who cares.

And yes Manning is filthy rich.

His employer is paying him a ton of cash...In turn, he's making them a whole helluva lot more than they are paying him...

In this case, he's basically taking money from a kid's family to be a sweet 16 well dressed clown...Granted, I'm not feeling sorry for them, because they obviously have the financial means to do this..However, this looks pretty damn petty for such a high profiled, multi millionaire athlete...

These guys go to the McDonalds hospitals to visit the sick kids with the cameras all around them all the time.. They don't ask for anything for doing that.. (Apparently their moral compass is properly set there  ) But when a girl wants to meet him in his off season for a few minutes for her sweet 16, and you choose to ask for roughly a quarter of a million dollars ??? That just seems petty..

It really doesn't seem out of line considering how much politicians can charge for an appearance fee.

True, but then I don't need to go around reading or hearing about how much of a philanthropist he is and what all his charitable contributions have attributed too....Especially when he's getting paid hundreds of thousands for scribbling his name on footballs and photos, and doing this kind of stuff...

Like others have said, he built his image, he earned this. This is no different than when he uses his image to get endorsements.

Should he (in general) donate money to charity? I believe he should donate money. Anyone that well off should donate to reputable charities, IMO. Does the nature of the way he earned this particular bit of cash ear mark it as cash that absolutely should be donated? I don't see why. I don't see how it's different than his money made off endorsements.

Honestly, the philanthropists in this thread should be harping on mommy and daddy, why they didn't donate this money to charity, not Peyton. I guarantee they're worth more than he is. Do you think Peyton would pay a celebrity $200k to make an appearance at his daughter's birthday party? I highly doubt it. Doling out such a large chunk just to have Peyton show his face is grossly flaunting your wealth. Peyton accepting the cash is just business.

When you’re the current Super Bowl MVP and a future Hall of Famer, I think you need to say no. After he's retired, maybe I could see doing something like this...but not now...it's beneath him.
I think the entire party is sending an awful message to kids that watched the show and Peyton shouldn't have been a part of it. It's the father's money to throw around however he wants. But he is warping his daughter and other kids sense or reality. I just don't think that at this point in Manning's career that he should have participated...unless it was for charity.
Rick Manning working birthdays? Okay
Peyton Manning? He should have passed.

Michael Jackson showed up at my 10th birthday party. He said he just wanted cake and ice cream... :chuckles:

Also I hope it was for a girl? 200,000 g's for a sports figure come to my 16th b-day party? I'll pass. Give me some strippers and I'll be good to go.

Shit, just give me the $200k for my birthday. I'm pretty sure you could then go get yourserlf some strippers with that money, if you so desired.

Peyton, like many athletes, performers and celebrities, occasionally accepts offers for private appearances. The PeyBack Foundation will benefit, as it does when Peyton accepts fees for corporate and charity events, sports outings or a celebrating a business milestone like last week's event.

apparently that came from Mannings people.

I wonder how much Cedric the Entertainer got?

And while Peyton is doing this, Tom Brady is impregnating supermodels and hot actresses.
