Pick one to build a franchise around

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
1. Tatis Jr
2. Acuna
3. Vladdy
4. Ohtani

Ohtani last simply because he's ~3.5-5 years older than the other 3 and he has been hurt quite a bit since coming over to the states. Vladdy 3rd because even at 22 he's already destined for 1B/DH duty for the rest of his career.

Choosing between Tatis and Acuna is super difficult, but I think I take Tatis because I see a bit more room for improvement in his game.

Tatis Jr…..And it wasn’t hard to pick

I think I would go Tatis as well because he plays a premium position, but Acuna is really damn tempting.

Tatis. You can build around him on the field. Easily marketable off the field.

Literally is like the only guy in baseball you can endorse in terms of “it factor” and not having a stick in the mud personality.

Think Acuna fits the bill to this too. Incredibly fun to watch, although has been criticized for mailing it in at times. But they’re very similar as far as their strengths, weaknesses, and on field personality

I don’t know that he’s actually that much better than Acuna, but it’s an easy Tatis for me.

Vlad Jr. Transcendental bat. Fact that he just hits then sits means I think he plays more often in his career than FTJ. I see a young Manny or Miggy. He's even better than his dad, which is crazy to say.

Fun question, but you can't build a franchise around one player.

Think Mike Trout. Think Ralph Kiner, who played for one of the worst franchises in MLB history.

So, pick the young player of your choice, and trade him for five players/prospects that you can build a franchise around.

perhaps not 5.. perhaps only three.. but the three right ones..

Ohtani is the oldest and worst hitter with the highest injury potential but also highest potential if he is able to get more consistent with his pitching, simply because pitching is the most valuable defensive position by far.

Vlad has the lowest ceiling possibly, because his value is mainly limited to his hitting but it's hard to see him not being consistently great, and the likely best hitter of the bunch (although Acuna/Tatis might rival him).

Tatis will probably end up at 3B I'd imagine, but even so he has the combination of playing a more difficult position and combining with great offense that's not far behind Vlad and Acuna. I worry about him slacking with all the guaranteed money.

I'd go with Acuna probably. He's somewhere between Vlad and Tatis in most aspects, but without the strong drawbacks. I would be on him being the most valuable of the 4 over the next 5 years.
