How about we look at it like this...

This Guardians team would not be where they are at right now without the contributions of one Amed Rosario, period.

Put that into your stats, and minimize his contribution all you want.

I decided to move my comments here, since this seemed to be a way better thread...

Trust me, his contribution is legit and we can almost all agree with that fact...

At the moment, we will have... 7 MIFs on our 40 man roster at the current moment in 23 (Have to add Angel Martinez somehow). Not including Miller and Palacios (who on paper can be put into this group as well). Majority of them have a plus contact skill and play better defense than Rosario does as well. Rosario is the only one of the group that doesn't have any long term control, plus he is likely to get 8-9 million in arbitration. He doesn't have good range for a SS, but he has cut way down on his errors this season, which has helping put up his defensive numbers (essentially he doesn't get to as many balls, but he isnt messing up much at all if he can get to it).

Cleveland on paper has prospects that can play better defense and has a solid enough contact skill to replace him. Rosario doesn't take walks and doesn't get a ton of extra base hits (he has a pretty bad slg%). Also he leads the team in grounding into double plays plus is also towards the bottom in sac hits/flies.

I love his attitude and how he plays the game, but for me, I feel like, I'd rather put that money he is due towards bonuses on extensions for Gimenez, TMac, Bieber... Plus we don't lose any defense by moving on from him... I get we could lose some offense, but the two main candidates to replace him, Freeman and Arias, both have solid batting profiles. Arias gives us way more power, while Freeman gives us a similar contact style that doesn't SO...

If we try to move him to the OF... Straw is a gold glove CF and Brennan has a way better bat profile potential.... Brennan is off the roster if Rosario moves to the OF...

I have no qualms if we keep Rosario, but I'd say, on paper, it's better to replace him from someone in house and put his contract monetarily into an extension and/or filling in a need in free agency.

Plus I feel like we could get more for him than people think because of his age... Let's say a team with a good payroll, acquires him, he is going to get a solid paycheck/extension offer.

Sadly business side of things state trading Rosario before the 23 is the best thing to do...

Nobody dislikes Amed, he’s just not going to be on the team for much longer because it doesn’t make sense for him to be.

He’s a free agent next winter, and he’s not an extension candidate. Writing is on the wall. Our championship parade will be a nice send off for him.

I absolutely love Amed. Guys with speed? That's my jam. Watching him fly around the bases is fucking FUN.

I'm looking forward to the competition between Arias and Rocchio for the starting SS next year (Yes, I'm assuming that we don't move Gimenez off second and that Freeman is out of the running already. Those are premature assumptions I know). Both of them are far superior defensively. I think Arias, if he gets a full season of healthy baseball, likely has an OPS+ that equals or surpasses Amed's career averages. I think Rocchio's bat would probably play slightly under Amed's for a full season, but his spllits towards the end of the year as he settles in probably creep right back up there.

This organization just isn't going to blow their limited financial resources in order to keep an average starter when we have a glut of talented young prospects behind him who look to surpass his production.

Take that money you could waste on Amed, and apply it somewhere you really need it, like a big power bat... or extending your own talent.

We're not getting a lot for him in trade.

If we do, we've probably made a mistake.

A team that doesn't have a SS near or at MLB ready that's trying to compete, may offer a little more then try to extend him cause the fact Rosario is still pretty young...

Braves beat us in the offer for Olson because they planned on extending him... If someone likes Rosario enough to extend him, then it's very possible they will offer the most.

The dust that is Turner, Bogearts, Correa and Anderson will have to settle before the market for Amed opens up.

I'm not even sure what team is in need of a SS like Amed. It won't be a rebuilding team as they don't want to spend that kind of money and take away opportunity for prospects. Amed isn't good enough to attract the attention of the Dodgers, Braves or any other big spending contender. The team best suited to have interest in Amed may very well be in our division. It looks like their SS is opting out.

St Louis should be a solid trading partner w/r to the Cardinals acquiring a capable SS who can hold the fort for a year while Masyn Winn is truly ready.. The Cardinals have a RHH 1B/OF Yepez who is currently blocked and is playing out of position, a couple of catchers (Knizner, Herrera, Crooks and Bernal) to chose from and some fine young arms (Mautz, Graceffo, Liberatore, Genesis Cabrera, & others) that fit the Guardians profile. The St Louis & Cleveland front offices have made many deals in the past.. so the FO's are familiar and comfortable trading with each other..

As far as Minnesota's SS opting out.. screw them !!!

Good point Gson. I forgot about St. Louis being a possible fit.
