Possible Vet Min Signee's..

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because if we dont sign them than bron can get moved to SG and than shreef can play SF or something..

I am not sure if LeBron will ever move back to SG full time. His defense gets totally exposed against the quicker guards and it is better for him to guard someone much slower so he can put his main focus on offense.

If we do land Shareef, that means Drew goes to his 4th team.

Doug Christie is a good defender, and he can also knock down shots. He is better than anything we have right now guarding the wing, so I wouldn't be so quick to not even consider him.

A Christie/Snow back court would be... old.

I'm pretty wary of bringing in guys like Allan Houston, Christie, Curry etc. Just too much risk for a young team, I'd rather take a risk on the immature lazy guys with hopes they turn around.

What kind of contract would the vet minimums be for guys like Houston, Finley or Christie though? Its scaled on experience if I remember?

Id bring in Christie to come off the bench, but we have Newble, so that really defeats the purpose.

I dont see him coming here.

Cliff Robinson is now available after New Jersey declined his option. Not the player he was, but a veteran big would not go astray!

How about Damon Stoudemire? He's been much maligned over the last few years, but the guy would be a nice complement to Snow. Shoots the three well and with Lebron handling the point more doesn't have to worry about setting everybody up

Depending on how free agency goes we may need someone like Stoudamire for a scoring punch. There is every chance we miss out on those 2 guards we have been craving, so we would be at the status quo of last season. If we do secure a Michael Redd, then Stoudamire is not really neccessary.

I wouldnt mind Damon, esp with Newble and LJax coming off the bench, a PG that can score can help us out on the bench.

Im not saying that im dying to have him here or anything. If we miss out on other free agents we may have to settle for him(if he gets waived). Hes better than nothing. Hes still a sevicable role player.
i know- but isn't JIRI kinda the same style of player ?

i mean, christie is a perimeter defender, can handle the ball, and sometimes knock down the outside shot

hell, at least with JIRI 2 out of 3 aint bad :chuckles:

but serious, jiri was a perimeter defender, he can handle the ball, and well- he was supposed to have "THE SHOOTERS TOUCH" ;) but you get the point- he's a younger player, that is kinda in the same mold.........

A lot of these vets that get released would be brought in for backup roles. Christie is an example of that and also an example of the level of player the Cavs could realistically get in this type of scenario.

Karma brought up Cliff Robinson earlier who I think could be a solid addition as a veteran backup big man. He can shoot with range and is a solid defender.

I've liked Uncle Cliffy since his days on the Blazers, his offense is definitely better than his defense. But I don't think he could be had for anything less than we had Traylor for, and I'd take Traylor over him for his defense any day.

On a side note, any olds remember when Cliff Robinson was on the Cavs the 1st time? I don't- I was 6!

It would be worth signing Robinson just to keep him out another eastern conference teams' roster. This dude has wiped the floor with us the last two years: a big reason why we lost critical games at the end of the year the last two years

There was another player named Cliff Robinson who played with the Cavalier's from 82-84. He was a solid scorer (18ppg here) and nearly cracked a spot in the Top 20 countdown. The Cliff we know was drafted in Portland and played his first 8 seasons there. Last year was the 1st time since his rookie year back in 89/90 that he scored in single digits on average. Still though, he have some value left.

Ohh that explains why he didn't look like the picture :chuckles:
