Pre Season Game #1 - Charlotte Bobcats @ Cleveland Cavaliers 10/5/2010

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's up guys? Just got back from the game. I have a lot to tell you all, but I'm working on uploading video for you. I took what I could, video should be up shortly!

Just got back from the game.

Positives
  • defense looked very good...even without Andy
  • we rebounded the ball very very well
  • Jamario Moon was very good...if he isn't our starting SF then something is wrong
  • Boobie was more aggressive...had a few turnovers..but those were the variety of a new offense..and the bigs not being able to catch the ball
  • Sessions was good at creating for the team
  • Green didn't make any shots, but he played good D, hit the boards
  • Hickson was aggressive...still not a go to post player...he needs to just make his cuts to the rim and let Sessions and Mo find him...he got 9 boards in just 27 min
  • Hollins will be a good defender for us..he was a defensive presence..it was so nice to see an athletic 5 man instead of the slow guys we had last year.....if he could catch the ball he would do better on offense
    • Parker was very good also tonight...made a few shots off 1 to 2 dribbles

Negatives
  • Jamison was awful...he thought he HAD to shoot every time he touched the ball...
  • we had a ton of turnovers...a lot of them were due to the guys expecting their teammate to cut one way and they went another...these should go away as they get used to the offense
  • Loren Woods is awful...not sure why he even is playing...would rather see Samuels.

Overall it was a very good first outing....our D was very good...I can see a Hollins,AV,Moon,Parker, Sessions lineup as being very very good on D. Hollins can show and recover on the P&R way better than Shaq or Z.

I hope to see Eyenga on Thur......in pregame he threw the ball up let it bounce, jumped up caught it and did a windmill..pretty impressive athleticism....

Seems like [Gibson]'s more aggressively drawing contact at the hoop.

Unfortunately, Gibson has never been durable enough to keep that up for a full season. The beating he takes has eventually lead to an extended leave of absence and a lingering injury.

Our floor is sexy.... Our uniforms are tragic...

I'm in love with our new floor. Its like that hot new blonde who moved next door. It's just sad that 2k11 really dropped the ball when it came to our home court. Nothing like it once so ever.

went to the game, some impressions

JJ did well when he played in the flow of the game - put back baskets, assisted baskets, like he's done in the past. Most of his misses and turnovers where when he tried to create on his own. He was forcing things in that situation and it didn't go well. He did most of that early, then played better later. He drew quite a few fouls and went 7-10 from the line.

Jamison didn't shoot well, but he was a +15

The defensive highlight of the night was Green with a chase down block on a bobcats fast break.

Overall I was encouraged that we had a strong first game against the bobcats, a solid playoff team from last year, with two of our best players out. It's only preseason, so we still need time to evaluate the team, but we certainly look quite a bit better than the last place team some are predicting.

That was a very impressive play by Green. It caught me by surprise actually. Showed me more athleticism than I thought he had.

Sorry guys, the computer is giving me major trouble uploading multiple videos at once. I added this video for now, i'll do much more later on after work. Hope you like it!

It might be better to watch the video from YouTube directly. I have no idea why the viewing box is so big on here...?

That Ahmad cat is going to be even more annoying this season with poor crowds....

I like how he said: "Cavaliers fans in the building" and the camera proceeds to pan down to show like 7 people in that one section....:chuckles:

I totally called that one while Green was still at half court. Green never got into his offense and he is supposed to be a good shooter, but he played solid defense with good position most of the time and he boxed out! There was a stretch there where him and Moon were stealing the ball left and right. I'm really hoping for Green to break out this season (another reason I think that we should think about trading AP) you can really tell that he has a high IQ on the defense and when he gets more burn will become more comfortable in the offense.
