Redd + Z + Jasikevicius?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Diop will not be back. If we do get Saruanus, I would like him to initially be our 6th man. Gives us a scoring punch and leaves us with a solid defender on the perimeter in Snow.

The good defensive teams had 3 things in common.

1) A lockdown defender who can make the other teams best scorer at the PG or wing positions work very hard to score.

2) A good defensive big man who is there in case someone outside gets beat off the dribble.

3) A solid defensive concept.

I don't think any of the players on this list fill any of these needs and the closest to any of them would be AD.

I like the idea of signing Redd or Ray Allen but then I think we have to let Z and or Gooden go and get a defensive anchor.

I'd rather have a Dalembert or Chandler in the middle and get someone like SAR(sign and trade with Portland if they like Gooden??) with something a little above the Mid level.

I'd think a lineup of Daniels,Redd,LBJ,SAR, and Dalembert is more athletic and better defenively and can still be a potent scoring team.

Your last lineup is a good one, but I cant see us being able to pull off so many moves, but a great thought. I wouldn't be to pissed to lose Z if that was our starting five.

Snow does give us someone who will make his point guard work, and I just hope that Brown makes James work harder on defense. I also would love to see if we could move Gooden for a more defensive oriented player at the four. As for your third point, lets hope Coach Brown installs the defensive principals vital to our success.

Snow's days of defending point guards are coming to a close.

I wonder where managements thoughts are on Drew, are we going to resign him? I think this will be the only reason we trade drew now, we aren't going to resign him. If we wanted more defense, we would just start varejao at the 4. I doubt we trade gooden for another AV apparent. We're gonna need some scoring from our 4 position, or we're gonna struggle to score 90 a night ala detroit because they get no scoring from center.

Dalembert, lol..

Anyways, Newble played at Miami U, which is by Cinci, but he isnt from ohio. Ohio connection none the less..

One thing running teams that like to jack the score up like the Suns and Mavs dont have, is a half court game.

Lebron and Z with the addition of Redd/Allen is pretty much unstoppable in half court.

So we can pick and choose what tempo we want to play at.

So our defense wouldnt be a huge problem, make teams adjust to us, not us adjust to them.

Suns are an exception to this rule. They do indeed have a huge post presence and ran some half court sets with him throughout the playoffs. Amare Stoudemire had the ball every single possesion down the stretch VS San Antonio, and still failed. Our defense will be a huge problem against teams that can play excellent defense whilst being productive on offense

I think the guy with the most potential to be our lockdown defender is actually Sasha. Good height and athleticism to match up with both guard spots and some 3's. He's not as strong as Snow but he's got decent strenght/bulk and he's got the quickest hands on the team.

Newble is just too slow against quicker SG's. He's really an average defender but he expends more energy on the defensive end then most guys.

Snow's losing a step here and there

If we sign Redd, I think keeping Sasha could be very important as I think he might be the 6th man in Brown's schemes. A backcourt (which we didn't see enough of last year) of Snow/Sasha would be quite effective for defensive purposes for short stints.

I agree with Sasha, he showed some potential against Kobe.

He has good foot speed, but he just isnt real strong and has no respect from the refs so he get a lot of ticky tack fouls.

But he may be a good defender in time.

i see it now.. this offseason.. Cavs trade Drew Gooden, Sasha and a first rounder to detroit for Rasheed Wallace.. who can play the 4 or 5.. that makes our lineup look like this..

Snow/Redd/Bron/Sheed/Z i think thats a pretty good defensive team... but one can dream right?

I doubt Detroit will want to mess with their starting lineup. They almost won a championship last season. If it aint broke dont fix it. I think they'll just try to improve their bench and try their chances again next season.

I doubt anyone cares, but Snow went to Mckinley High School In canton.

I go to a different high school, but some of his family go to my school. Some work here and some others are students. It's kinda cool..

I think we need to forget about the Cavs getting players like Dalembert and Chandler. They're both restricted and the 76ers and Bulls wil match any offer to keep them.

After the moves that end up being made this summer the Cavs still might not have a perfect team. The whole building process isn't going to get completed in one offseason. The lineup that we have going into next season might not be perfect defensively or perfect offensively but it will be much better and a huge step in the right direction. More moves will be made in the next few years to put the right kind of team together to contend and has good chemistry. It will be too early to make a complete judgement on this team after this summer's moves.

If the Cavs lose out on getting Redd or Allen, Id try to make a package to get Peirce.

what would you offer in order too make that happen ?

i wouldn't mind pierce either, but he has had some bad things to say about LeBRON in the past..

didn't they also get into it in columbus when the cavs had a pre season game there ?
i thought he spit in LeBRON'S direction ? or something on those lines..

i'm pretty sure they are not cool with one another...

Pierce and LeBron have gotten into it in the past. Pierce's attitude has become a question mark too. He's also a player who dominates the ball which I'm not sure makes him a good fit with LeBron. There's a reason the Celtics are willing to trade him. I'm not sure he fits with the character requirement the new regime is looking for either, especially at the money he's making.
