Respect Ricky Davis.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Davis does what he does, Boston is a bad team and he is asked to get the ball in the bucket. It's a pretty easy job really Pierce will score 20+ and Ricky is asked to just play sidekick and be the go to guy when Pierce is resting. Nice game but it reminded me of what it was like when he was here. He would score 25+ and they lost by 15+ just like we used to.

Mac, the pressure on Ricky is very limited despite his appearance in the playoffs. He was the 3rd man on a very average playoff team, so the pressure on him was very limited. He could go for 10 points and noone would complain too much. This season they have lost their No.2 option in Walker, so Davis has to step up onto a team with little proven talent to be the 2nd option. Hense Ricky can force plays all day and people will say "hey, we have no other options". They'd rather Davis force a pass or shot then Brian Scalabrine. I have no problems with Davis as a player. He is a talented player who is in a team where he can do whatever with little consequences. Noone expects him to lead his team to the playoffs. Noone really needs him to lead them anywhere really. To me he is not under the microscope for anything outside of his attitude which will remain the media's focus.

I respect the last two posts...very honest.

I like that.

He could have played a decade with Lebron pioneer, but what has that got to prove? He has been here for two years, and we have yet to make the playoffs. We havent won anything yet, time will tell if that is a good statement or not. Who played next to Clyde Drexler? Dominque? John Stockton? Playing next to a great player doesnt make your career. Paul Perice is a fine player in his own right, just being next to Lebron is a baseless statement. When we win, then maybe he will second guess it. But we have to fight for a championship, nothing is giving.

Playing next to a great player definitely helps you're career. Kareem was a floundering guy in LA whose team was losing till a young Magic Johnson came along. Jabbar's legacy would have been completely different. Clyde Drexler didn't have one great sidekick but he had an unbelievably talented roster around him: Buck Williams, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Cliff Robinson and then he guess what one his title as SECOND FIDDLE to Hakeem. Clyde suddenly went from a taleted loser to get the respect his long career earned him after that. Stockton had Malone: without the other they wouldn't have achieved as much. 'Nique is an interesting question: the guy has all the number for the HOF yet he didn't get in why? A large part of it is he never had the second superstar with him.

You can also lose the condescension: Ricky Davis is an uber-talented player but he has had plenty of issues as a player and a person. Good for him that he seems to have found a home but to say that if you don't respect Ricky Davis then you are "Lebronairre" is an absolute joke.

Ricky will be on a different team next year (if not this year). His fifth in his young career. BTW, they just lost to the Hawks who hadn't won a game yet this year...

Ricky is a good player for a bad team. There are a lot of people like him in the NBA.

I never said if you didnt respect Ricky, you were a Lebronalier. Just goes to show your incompentence of reading. But that's ok, you always seem to get that wrong. Just like when I said Morgan was better than Antonio Bryant right? LMAO...

True, they lost to the Hawks, but they were also on the road, in their second game in as many nights. The Pacers got destroyed by the Bobcats, but does that make the Pacers a bad team now? No...there are 82 games, hard for any team to play great for 82 games. Ask the Pistons.

Bottom line, I made this thread because he gets bashed by Lebronaliers that know NOTHING about his game. Ignorance is bliss.

Again lose the condescension. When people don't agree with you instead of arguing a point and you try to belittle people. Not an effective way to win an argument. And reread what you wrote you made an inherent connection with "Lebronaliers" to people who bash Ricky. You just seem to need to prove that you are "true" Cavs fan and do that by putting hypercritical of Lebron.

And who is the football point supposed to be made too? I don't think ever posted in any football thread on this or any other board

That Lebronalier reference was made to people who disagreed with me during his rookie year.

It wasnt a present comment. If it was preceived that way, than maybe that will clear it up.

I have no problem with Ricky Davis. When he was here he did everything he could to win he took the brunt of the load on his back every single night and we usually lost by 20+. You can't bag on him too much we had like 34 fans in attendance every night, and we lost 65 games. Hell If you did everything you could every night only to lose like 90% of the time wouldn't you be pissed to? I don't take offense to the black hole comment, because in all actuality every team becomes a black hole sometime or another except a few on a short list...Yankees Braves Lakers.

Look at the Kings they were lottery for a decade and went to the playoffs for like 5 years straight. The Clippers have been in a black hole for their entire existance will this be their year? umm probably not.

So basically I take no offense to the black hole remark the majority of teams have a bad stretch of years, thats the nature of the beast. I'd be mad if I suited up every night next to Desagana Diop Bimbo Coles and the 40 year old Tyrone Hill would you?

good player, bad team...enough said. Maybe he can team up with Marbury down the road and be the greatest 'Stat Kings' in the league.
