Brown's acting ability is vastly underrated. He was easily the best NFL player turned actor.
Brown's acting ability is vastly underrated. He was easily the best NFL player turned actor.
And that includes guys like Merlin Olsen and Fred Dryer who later had respectable tv and film careers. Carl Weathers had too short a NFL career to call him an established NFL player, and OJ was decent at acting, but not great.
And certainly is the best actor NFL star, considering his fame prior to acting.
True, Olsen was one of the best O-Linemen ever, OJ was a star player, but Brown was a superstar, the face of the League. It's like Patrick Mahomes retiring from football next year to take up acting (we recall Brett Favre and Dan Marino's turn at acting).
He had a smoldering presence in his dramatic roles, and quiet intensity the other guys never approached.
Yes, exactly, but, he wasn't a superstar.Merlin Olson was a HoF D lineman. Played with Dryer, Jack Youngblood and Deacon Jones.
At the same time, the people from other teams attacking the Browns for continuing to honor #32 while rostering Watson and saying "lol predator organization, 2 strikes now" are badly off-target for one reason:Smacking women around is more than being flawed. But, as long as you’re a great athlete your praises will be sung and no one will care
Joaquin Peiro died on May 18th, 2020--exactly 3 years to the day before Jim Brown.

If it weren't for Jim Brown, there would be no Earth Wind & Fire
The day Maurice White (leader of EWF) came to Jim Brown's house to ask permission for their release (Jim Brown was managing them and as co-owner of their first management company, was personally bankrolling their inception and early development and using connections to get them their first gigs), Brown answered the door butt ass naked around midday and made Maurice sit with him while naked to talk business. Maurice was convinced Brown probably left a few women sprawled out in the other room resting in order to come take his meeting.
He made Maurice White promise him that he would always maintain ownership over their masters and only "partner" with major record labels to help with distribution and tours. Then he let him out of the contract and all monies owed to him and said making it as big as he could be was all the pay he needed from him. Information Jim learned from his good friend Sam Cooke and passed on to any minority artists, performers and creators who he came across on the LA scene.
