RJ Nembhard jr

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sadly Badric actually took up a full roster spot, not a 2-way contract, so no.

Nah. Thomas was on a two way deal. Then got brought back for camp and was cut before the season. So he technically never had a 15 man roster spot.

I would swap him for Kessler Edwards without blinking

I'm not a fan of Nembhard. But he makes sense as the two way for now because we need a 3rd string PG. When Rubio comes back then they should cut Nembhard for a young wing. But right now we need Nembhard or another guard on the 2nd two way contract for emergency depth.

Nembhard is a weird case because IMO he doesn't possess the theoretical upside you normally expect from young(ish) 2 way or G-League players. He has no elite skills or physical traits. He's just... there.

You'd think this guy would get a lot more money and playing time if he just went overseas like his dad instead of hanging around the outer margins of the NBA world picking up scraps, but the trouble is that he can't shoot. The competition for spots is so fierce these days that it's hard to sell a slowish, ground bound combo guard who shot 31.4% from the perimeter in college.

I can't see him ever getting a true break in the League. He's already 23 and every year there's a new influx of younger, better guys coming in.

I dont think Goodwin is 2-way eligible anymore as he has been in the league for 4 seasons.
Roby and Edwards would both be better options than Nembhard just because they seem like they will actually stick in the league (they'd be better options than Windler in a main roster spot too).

If Garland or Neto get hurt I think we will see point Caris before they put Nembhard out there

1) He's got an elite name: "Nem-B-Hard"

2) My impression is that the Cavs gave him guaranteed money so that the Cavs have a team first PG this summer instead of another "chuck-it-now" guard in the summer league.

3) Team does need a 3rd string PG until Rubio comes back

4) If you want to audition for euro-league teams, Vegas is one of the best places to do it. There are a lot of overseas scouts there.

Absolutely, but I don’t think Edwards is going to be on a two-way. I think he ends up getting a contract now that he’s a free agent.

I think it is weird that they love Nembhard so much, but he never got min when we needed ballhandlers

I still don't understand how they didn't go after an upgrade over Nembhard. At least bring in a UDFA PG on a exhibit 10 to compete with him in Summer league and in camp for the last two way spot. I'm not seeing the upside of Nembhard.

Catching up on this thread. This is officially the slowest part of the NBA slow season, isn't it?
