Lue had a few atrocious moves in that game (no Frye, the last two minutes of 1st half, SO MUCH RJ), but I do appreciate that he had no problem bringing LeBron back in as soon as Detroit got up 7 in the fourth.
This is going to be more of a recap of things, because I'm sure they've been pointed out already...
-As he did in the regular season, Love absolutely dominated Detroit. The Pistons just don't have anyone that can guard him (or LeBron, for that matter). All the talk from non-Cavs people was about who Love would guard, but they forgot Love is a beast offensively and Detroit can't guard him.
-Kyrie may score 40 in one of these games. He was 10-24 but missed a couple of open 17-footers and 3-4 Kyrie layups. He got caught up a couple of times defensively, but I thought he was solid there. Overall, he played really well.
-Detroit was 15-29 from three (and one of those was Drummond from 75 feet away at the buzzer). They lost. They won't shoot like that again. I think if you're the Cavs, you play them the same way. Give up a decent look now and again to take away the Drummond roll. You make Stanley Johnson, Harris, Morris and Bullock beat you from three.
-I wanted to call SVG out for that quarter break whine fest about LeBron and offensive fouls... but he wasn't wrong.
-The irony is not lost on me that Reggie Jackson was their only starter with playoff experience... and he was the one that completely melted down late. Dumbass shot, horrendous tech, then boneheaded 24 second violation. Somewhere Russell Westbrook is laughing his ass off.
-The Pistons constantly switched the PnR with LeBron as the roll man. Got LeBron in the post against a smaller defender. Be interesting to see if the Pistons stick with that strategy.
-This is going to be an incredibly hard-fought series. The Pistons won't give up. The Cavs need to come out and squeeze the life out of them in game 2.
