You play as the president of the United States.

You have super powers.

You fight aliens.

Keith David is your vice president.

Everything you listed is cons. I'll go with GTA V.

Or you can get both considering they are completely separate games that have nothing in common.

Yeah, I will definitely be buying both.

For what it's worth, though, I found Saints Row: The Third to be drastically superior to Grant Theft Auto IV. I thought GTAIV sapped entirely too much of the fun from the series and instead turned it into a slog. The physics made the driving less fun (although this was mostly remedied in Lost & Damned), the friend system was more annoying than enjoyable, and the autosave system was completely awful (another thing the expansions fixed). The story was all right and the humor/satire was as solid as ever, but I just didn't enjoy playing the game like I did Vice City and San Andreas.

Saints Row 3 was the polar opposite. It was a game build entirely on the premise of having fun. It threw realism out the window and simply asked that you slap on a smile and do as many ridiculous things as you felt like doing. There were missions where you fought zombies, made action films, had super powers, leaped out of planes, flew helicopters, and the list goes on and on and on.

Saints Row IV looks like an extension of that. It's not aiming for realism. It's aiming for fun, and it's doing that by giving you a bunch of ridiculous superpowers and telling you to do some damage with them. I also think that the concept of casting you as the president was brilliant, as was making Keith David your VP. Hilariously great ideas, one and all. I only hope they bring back Burt Reynolds as the mayor of Stillwater. That was easily the best cameo in the third game. :chuckles:

I'll be honest and say I don't play Saints Row really much. But I've looked at trailers and stuff. The first couple Saints Row's look pretty sweet, and the third one doesn't look that bad. But the fourth one here looks slightly too ridiculous. There are elements that they have and GTA doesn't that looks cool, but it just looks like too much this time. The dubstep gun looks freaking sweet though, and some of the weapons like that they have are pretty cool.

And I'm actually downloading the Saints Row 4 demo right now, so I'll test it out and see how it is.

And thats why I love Saints Row. I'm more or less out of my serious gaming stage and now I just want to have fun when I play.

For me the fact that it's doing something totally different is the appeal. I actually just recently finished Saints Row III (bought it during the Steam Christmas sale last year), so it's nice to see the fourth game going in an entirely different direction rather than simply repeating the style of the third game.

They've basically turned the series into a combination of Crackdown and Saints Row III, both of which were games I very much enjoyed the hell out of.

I actually played Crackdown for the first time a couple weeks ago with a friend of mine that has an Xbox. Never even heard of the game before then but it was a pretty cool game.

I will always favor the GTA series.

SR 1 & 2 tried to mimic GTA and then add its own unique twists. GTA 4 came out in 08, and Saints Row 3 came out in 2011. So comparing them is pointless, a 3 year gap is a long way in video games. The DLC is just expanding upon GTA 4 and making its tweaks, theyve already established themselves in the market and have a brand identity.

SR 3 is where it became its own brand. Its not so much GTA as it is flat our ridiculous. Its all about the fun and is no longer a direct competitor to the GTA series. Id buy both, or at least rent SR 4, for the PS3.

Definitely getting both games.

I took a break from GTA ever since San Andreas but GTA Five looks amazing.

Yeah it kind of seems like they learned after GTAIV that people want to have fun in GTA games, not run around doing menial shit like taking friends to comedy clubs or to movies.

Hey Cousin! Want to go bowling?

Well I guess the Saints Row 4 thing really isn't a demo considering I couldn't get on to play. I don't know if it only lets you create a character or if it goes farther but it wouldn't let me upload my character and said the server is down or something.
