Now that Redd has agreed with the Bucks and Allen with the Sonics, should we try soemthing different.

Keep the Z + Jasikevicius we had originally. that'll cost around 14 million, leaving us around $14 million. Instead of getting a single max contract guy, why not go after two smaller contract guys who can shoot? That way we have more depth.

Bobby Simmons - the least expensive of the main 4 we were after - we can perhaps get him for $8 million and unlike Redd, he's not going to get anymore to stay where he was.

Damon Jones - he can't get more than the MLE most anywhere else. Takes care of the ball, shoots well, does occasionally get posterized, though. ;) - we can probably get him for the $6 million we would have left because that's more than Miami can pay him. He may come cheaper of Udonis Haslem leaves Miami as well as they'd just have the MLE left to replace both of them.

If we get Jasikevicius, we don't need Damon Jones. Saras is much more experienced and most likely less erratic on offense. Damon Jones was good, but that can be attributed to playing alongside Shaq. The same can be said if he plays next to LeBron, but what do you think we can expect from Jasikevicius playing with the King? Much, much more.

Simmons is someone good to go after for the wing position.

If we have money left, we should throw it towards the frontcourt. It would relegate Gooden to the bench, where his scoring will be more valuable and his inconsistencies masked. Contract year = 6th man award? Throw money at Dalembert, SAR, Chandler, and see if we can convince them to sign.

right now my confidence is real down.. i dont think were gonna sign anyone big... this sucks.. i hope ferry can turn it around

It is not working folks. People are not signing up to play with Lebron. They are signing up to get paid. If Lebron can't convince Allen and Redd to come along for the ring, what makes us think it would work on Simmons or Hughes. At least we still have a shot at getting Z done this week and we can focus on finding some useful help somewhere.

that is the question, why dont you wanna play with LeBron James? maybe people are scared that they will get overshadowed by LeBron.. well LeBron isn't selfish, he wants to win and that's what he does... and he needs help... he cant do it on his own...

Simmons is a quality starter but not an All-Star calibre player. Cleveland simply isn't that talented of a team right now and we need more high quality players.

If there we're better PG's available then unproven guys like Saras and late bloomers like A. Daniels (someone like Arenas from 2 years back) then our choice would have been obvious.

I just think additions of Daniels (or Saras) and Simmons would be enough to get us into the playoffs but once there I don't see us being much of a threat

The truth is that Lebron is the greatest player on the planet. But the ego stars we are courting don't want to hear about that. Its all about them.. Lets sign Robert Horry and Janero Pargo and call it a day...

the difference is with Redd we had to ask him to take $22 million less to come here - that he even had to think about it for days after the Bucks offer shows the draw of playing with LeBron. The other guys are not getting max offers from their team.

I suggested Damon Jones and Jasikevicius to give us more depth. We don't want a 2nd team that can't score. We don't want to be an injury away from having no scorers again. If we get both, we can also then potentially package Snow and Drew as a trade for an upgrade in the front court.

Perhaps it's time to think about plan C - trade all of our prospects for KG and build our team around the two most versatile players in the league.

Horry already agreed with the spurs.

If Gilchrist plays well enough to make the team, you could have a cheaper and younger player that way instead of looking at Jones.

Oh well,

He is smarter than I look. :gap:

The world hasn't ended yet - did you expect this period to be easy? There are plenty of names left that will be suitable to the development of this team. I don't think any of us fully expected Redd or Allen to sign with us - sure, we all got excited the last few days, but it the end, was just a tease. We still have a Plan A open I believe - Redd wasn't a back-up plan, but a surprise to visit us. We should still be in good shape.

Think he'll get booed out of the gym next time we host the Bucks?

no way D. JONES and sarunas want to be backups

plus neither are good defenders like E. SNOW-- so it's pointless..

i'll take sarunas

they want money and minutes - if we trade snow and newble, they get both. The problem with Snow is that he'll increasingly be overpaid over the next few years and he can't shoot.

Im starting to warm up to getting Hughes. His contract negotiation with the Wiz are supposedly not going well. And I dont think theyre willing to give him the max. Hes not the gratest shooter though. We could sign Saras and Donyell Marshall to go along with Hughes. Then trade Drew for something good.
Pg-Saras, Snow
Sg-Hughes, Luke, Ira
Sf-LBJ, Sasha
Pf-Marshall, Av
C-Z, trade
Looks pretty well balanced to me.
