Should we try a different approach

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A point to ponder in my suggestion. Damon Jones would cost half of what Redd was going to cost and he was 6th in the league in 3 point shooting at .432, while Redd was 65th at .355.

Don't panic! Allen and Redd were both going to be tough to get. And I'll have to say the same about Hughes and Johnson. But it does seem like Hughes isn't thrilled with the way the Wizards have approached re-signing, and if I was Johnson, I'd be pissed the Suns were not just coming out with a max offer. So either of those isn't out of the question.

And again, Simmons would be an upgrade - not All-Star (yet?) but does everyone on the team need to be an All-Star? Not necessarily. One legit All-Star (um, LeBron) and three near All-Stars (Z, Simmons and maybe Sarunas) is a pretty damn good core.

Jones can shoot the 3, but I don't want him handling the ball.

The weaknesses in Hughes game would be magnified greatly on the Cavaliers. We'd have the same problems we had last year ...With Snow and Hughes on the court ...the inside gets bunched and we have no options to score except Lebron in the half court. That would kill us come playoff time. If we'rwe gonna get anybody it has to be Simmons or hopefully JJ ...Hughes simply doesn't fit with the makeup of our team. He's a poor shooter ...he looked better than he ever looked last year because the court was spread for him in the Wizards offense. He'll never see looks like that in our offense ...

With any incoming starter there must be adjustments. Doesn't fit well with the team? Well, if we get Hughes, we build around him, LeBron, and Z. Meaning we pick up Saras, that will be reliable with his shot. Gooden can go or stay, he's pretty easily replacable.

But don't tell me that Hughes can't fit here, because he will. You say the court was spread in Washington: they had Jamison and Arenas. Think what would happen if he had Z in the middle garnering double teams, James slashing attracting the same, or himself slashing and kicking it out... to Saras or LBJ. So many options on offense to work with that will create endless opportunity.

I don't think his offense will be what helps us, it would be moreso his defense that will be our asset.

We would need someone like Saras or even D. Jones to be added.

Niether Pippen or Jordan were great shooter (I am not saying that Lebron/Hughes will be as good but it's more favorable comparison then Lebron/Redd) and they didn't even have Z.

But they had pg's who could (Paxson, Armstrong, Hodges, and Kerr). Damon Jones would be perfect in a situation like this.

I actually starting to think missing out on Redd would actually be a good thing if we pick up Hughes/Jones

Jones wont leave Shaq unless we over pay him big time. Saruanus has to be our first choice period now IMO. Lets hope Luke Jackson looks good tonight.

If we can get any PG other than AD, Sauruanas is it.

He has a good game to him, we would have a great backup in Snow and a young project in Gilchrist.

If we can land him, I think we are in great shape at PG.

The heat just have the MLE to sign everyone with, and while they have early bird rights (5.5 million max, an exception to the MLE limit) for udonis haslem, they have no bird rights on Damon Jones. How much can they realistically offer him? Especially if Udonis Haslem goes elsewhere. If a team wanted to, they could sign Haslem + Jones for a total of $12 million/year and keep both players out of reach for the Heat to sign.

I heard today we have the most money to spend in the history of the NBA.
