So Long Jordan Clarkson ( aka Chucky McJumperson)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Clarkson is decent defensively and can put up 20 points from the bench on any given.. he will be useful to a team with little or no bench scoring..

Not sure why everybody wants to get rid of this guy. Players who can get and often make tough shots when the defense toughens up and the game is on the line are hard to come by... and he's not that old.

I think one of the arguments against him is that he's taking away playing minutes from other players. Of course these other players are less productive than him.

No team is scared of Jordan Clarkson in crunch time. He's too stupid not to get baited into tough midrange shots

Yeah, I think you could make an argument to keep him before they drafted Garland and Porter, but we need the developmental minutes and his usage is too high to get them with him here.

It is really fun watching Clarkson go off like he did last night. Every team needs a guy like that who can win games off the bench. I am very curious what his trade value is right now. A low end first from a contending team seems reasonable.

He's playing really well and is an expiring contract.

I know people hate his game, and if were a starter then I would too. But he knows what he is and what he's supposed to do and he's honestly not an awful defensive player.

He's probably having a career year overall. This is the highest his TS% has ever been. This is the highest BPM he's ever had. The highest WS/48. His highest PER.

He's been the best guard on the team so far this season. So....probably need to think about moving him while the iron is hot. Not sure if this will last. I have to imagine he has real value right now.

Defense as good as I have ever seen it from him. He Gamble's more than he should, but it's fine with Henson and Larry behind him

If we trade him a late first round odds are low we find someone that can score like he can
Kinda torn on him

The thing is that if Porter is going to be a 32 minute per game player at the 2 while Cedi and Windler take all the minutes at the 3, what does that leave for Clarkson?

Garland, Porter, and Sexton take all the 1-2 minutes while Cedi and Windler take all the 3 minutes. Where does that leave Clarkson?

If it were up to me I would...

1. Trade Thompson, Clarkson and Love for future draft picks

2. Use the savings to sign Hassan Whiteside, a 7' center who's averaging 17.3 points, 15.1 boards, and 3.6 blocks per game in December for Portland. He'll be a free agent after this season.

3. Sign John Henson to an extension.

So for '20-'21 we would have:

Guards: Garland, Sexton, Porter, Delly
Small forwards: Cedi, Windler
Power forwards: Nance, Henson
Centers: Whiteside, Zizic

We would also have our first round pick this year, assuming we don't screw up and finish out of the top 10, but that won't happen if we trade Love, Thompson, and Clarkson. We would have to take some bad contracts back but hopefully it would be players like Knight whose contract expires at the end of this season. I'm not sure if that's doable.

Those ten players plus a top 10 pick in next year's draft would be a pretty good team at the rate Garland and Porter are coming along.

Yeah for sure. Might make us worse. Gotta open up minutes for Porter Jr though.

Darius, Sexton and Clarkson don't work all together. Need to get rid of 1. Maybe it will be Sexton instead of Clarkson. I would hate that

Yea, getting rid of Clarkson is gonna hurt but I don't see anyway around it. He's an expiring, and the odds are almost zero the Cavs bring him back for a variety of reasons.

I guess the only chance would be if they trade Sexton for a non-guard. Then maybe they think about paying Clarkson? I'd be wary of that though. It is a contract year.

Rich Paul. He's not called "Poor" Paul

We got a log jam with all the guards as everybody said. We could use some height and someone who can shoot the ball and drain them when it matters. It does seem that we need to unload at least one guard.
I'm OK with Clarkson though for the most part, he can score, generally has a balanced game, and seems to be fitting in better. I wouldn't over pay for him though and certainly look at all offers.
