Super Bowl LVI - Ohio vs Odell

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
some people were mad at that, but fuggit. Ben's last 2 seasons ended with wild card round blowouts, with the BROWNS running the highest score against them.

It's OK for fans of losing teams to make fun of the ones they dislike. Apparently that is a crime on the Internet.

It's not the best look when said team kicked your ass twice and made the playoffs over you.

We need to build a statue of this man. It’s not his fault we never went to the playoffs with him on the team. He never whiners or complained about our awful franchise - he just busted his ass until he couldn’t play any more. He was never “too good” for Cleveland or NEO.

I haven’t watched much of the Chiefs since their opening week game against the Browns. But, their defense seems much improved. Anyone here follow them to know why? Was it a scheme thing? I am just curious since they seemed so horrific the first month of the season but now look pretty solid.

Chiefs fan here. The defense was horrific the first 6-7 games of the season. Two crazy stats that stuck out through that span… they were allowing 7.1 yards per play (the undefeated 2007 Patriots offense averaged 6.8 ypp!) and allowed 3.3 points per possession. They were historically bad.

Now, for the question you asked, there were a few factors. First, they were banged up with a few key starters out (Clark, Gay, etc.). Frank Clark’s absence forced them to move Chris Jones to edge and the interior line suffered as a result. You could run 5+ yards down the middle of the defense any time you wanted to. As players returned, so did their scheme.

Secondly, there were a lot of dumb mistakes and penalties early in the season. So as much as injuries were to blame, so was execution. I truly believe that if Spags (DC) didn’t get it figured out soon then he could be fired this year. He did and the team quickly became one of the better defenses in the league.

Lastly, don’t discount the Melvin Ingram trade. He brought a lot of experience to a position of need and injected some much needed energy. When the team sleptwalk last week in Denver, he made the play of the game, blowing up Gordon, forcing the fumble, which paved the way for the game winning scoop and score.

This next game is the true test. Buffalo manhandled the Chiefs in Arrowhead earlier this season. Now that was the historically bad defense KC team, but looking at what Buffalo did Saturday night, both teams are firing on all cylinders right now. I fully expect Sunday’s winner to not only play in the Super Bowl, but likely be favored. Should be a fun one!

Funny how all the Steelers fans cried about how we only beat them in the playoffs because they gifted us that TD in the beginning... what happened vs. the Chiefs? Surely the Steelers should have won after being gifted that TD, right?

Maybe I am wrong. But I also feel part of the reason the defense struggled was the offense was struggling as well. The defense is set up to be aggressive and have a pass rush, and when the KC offense is clicking it forces their opponents offense to be more aggressive which plays into the KC strengths.

I think Buffalo game will be interesting, Buffalo has the offense to keep up. But this will be a totally different game then during the season as KC offense is starting to click.
