The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm really surprised, even before the injury to Clase, that the Indians haven't brought a vet or two to compete for a spot. It seems like something they always do.

Collin McHugh, Javy Guerra, Fernando Rodney, Cory Gearrin, Tony Sipp, Last Gregerson, Aaron Loup, Matt Albers, Pat Neshek, Zach Duke, Tony Cingrani, Addison Reed, etc are still on the market. I'm not saying they are better options, but I'm surprised we haven't brought one or two in to see if you can catch lightning in a bottle.

Wait STO isn’t on YouTubeTV? What the hell. Time to find another carrier.

They did bring in Dominic Leone as a vet. Pre-Clase injury they more or less had 5/8 spots locked down (Hand, Karinchak, Clase, Wittgren, and Perez). Cimber is also probably a pretty safe bet for the roster, although I imagine most of us are skeptical of him. That leaves 2 spots for Wood, Maton, Hoyt, and Leone to compete for.

Not to mention the slew of up and coming relievers we have. Many of them will be starting the season in the upper levels and are just a phone call away from Cleveland.

On my phone, but Clev looking healthy in his twitter post throwing on flat ground with intensity

Might seem stupid to some that played above high school, but I quit baseball in grade school. Anyways, the up close cell phone view on flat ground shows you how violent a major league pitcher actually throws. It is so crazy to me to watch a recovering Clev and realize he probably will be faster in a month.

Personally if I was in a batter's box for a full at bat I would probably have tears in my eyes from fear, lol. Never mind having zero chance of hitting a 95mph ball.

Again, not even ruled out for Spring Training...

Also, take the timeline for Clase with a grain of salt...

I'd rather these guys get to 100% than get them back to soon. Though it seems like we should see Naquin and Clev on the shorter side of their respected timeline from reports.

@Derek

How would you rate Gose as a pitching prospect if you don't include his age? It's not common to see 97-98 from a left handed pitcher. I think he is a season away but could be a factor since our left handed depth in the organization isn't great to start so I am curious if he could factor in at all for this year?
