The 2021 Cleveland Baseball Organization

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I remember when the Yankees briefly had Chapman, Miller, and Betances all arguably at their best.

It seemed so unfair that their games were basically over after 6 innings.

Obviously, we managed to do something similar with our bullpen after acquiring Miller, but the way they just had three absolutely filthy pitchers really stuck with me.
I just remember that, for some reason, we hit Betances really well.

@BimboColesHair What have you heard, if anything, about the new Clippers manager, Andy Tracy? I know he's a (relatively) local guy being born and raised in Bowling Green and attending BGSU, but I wonder how highly the organization thinks of him and if he's a potential candidate to eventually take over once Francona retires.

I can understand passing over Sandy Alomar Jr., but why pass over Mike Sarbaugh??
Sarby's resume:
  • 9 seasons as a minor league manager across all levels.
  • Never had a losing record
  • Won multiple league titles as a minor league manager

I'm sure Sarbaugh would be a fine choice, but isn't it telling that Antonetti and Chernoff named Alomar the acting manager last season and not Sarby?

For me? Not really.

1B coach is easier to replace than 3B coach.

If Millsy were around last year, they probably would have made him acting manager.

Very loved throughout the organization.

He is owed a lot for how he still managed to develop the pool players and other minor leaguers last year with no season. He essentially headed up the remote learning and development systems put into place for all of the minor leaguers last year.

I think he is a terrific experiment in new-age managing styles for the Indians to undertake. Former player, embraces the developmental aspects of things right now far more than traditional managing. I look at him a lot like the hitting coach version of Kevin Cash when he was here. Kevin Cash was ahead of his time on how he viewed and managed/interacted with pitchers. There are quite a few in the organization who view Tracy in a similar light.

But Millsy never wanted to be the manager, while it feels like Alomar and Sarbaugh are close like Francona and Millsy are. I am guessing Alomar and Sarbaugh will be Manager and Bench Coach once Francona moves on.

Not sure what you mean by the bolded.

I'm not saying Mills will take over once Francona is gone. I'm just speaking to the naming of an acting manager last year having very little to do with who our organization may be eying in the future.

I just felt Millsy may not have taken the acting manager since it felt like he didn't want a position like that anymore. In a sense he actually may have let Alomar have the position last season. I could be wrong, but he could have easily gotten a managers job in the league but stayed as the bench coach while Alomar did apply for manager positions.

He was the acting manager the last time Tito was away from the team with health issues in 2017, so I assume he would have slid into that role last year as well. He opted out though, so we'll never know.

It may not be this year, and there are still a few dominoes to fall, but this team is going to be very, very good and soon.
The thing that tickles me is that the fans of other teams in the division (and maybe the teams themselves) have no clue. We've been completely dismissed into some Lindor-less abyss. It cracks me up to listen to hear our competitors talk about us in a dismissive, even pitying way. That's humorous, but listening to our own naysayers constantly complain, that's not humorous at all. Just the opposite.

Fair point

Well, now I'm even more bullish on Tracy and grateful he's in the organization. Appreciate the insight!
