The Brian Hoyer thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing about that defense is all that decent, but I agree Hoyer probably provides more.

I suspect this will be a somewhat typical Browns season where we bounce around QBs a bit. Will they ride Hoyer for a few games? Maybe. If he doesn't look good will Weeden come back? Probably. This seems so familiar with this team. Fun to win one, even if it does turn out to be a fluke.

Kelly Holcomb is watching somewhere in his recliner, nodding with approval while watching Hoyer highlights

Minnesota may have a fairly average defense, but they are known for getting a lot of pressure on the quarterback. Given that the Browns had absolutely no running game to keep them honest, what Hoyer pulled out was much more impressive than what anyone expected. He is trying to cement a job as a Browns second string QB of the future, and he is well on his way.

At least Boyer took some shots downfield. Don't mind the int when he was making plays down the field to justify the risks.

No no no, those throws were absolutely terrible - you must mind those. But it was his 1st start for us after a really weird week. Delivered/timed some beautiful passes when it mattered most. He played well enough to earn a few more starts.

Ohh, just in case anyone didn't know, Josh Gordon is probably 15x more important to this offense than Trent was.

probably throws 14/30 152 yds, and 3 ints next week and we all fall back to earth

what decade? they have like 1 sack in 2 games this year. wheres the pressure. them getting 3 sacks on the browns indicates a problem beyond weeden

There's the Cleveland, "fuck my fuck" attitude! Thanks, babe

I just knew this guy would come in and win a few games, play solid, and accrue a bandwagon amongst the fans. I fucking knew it. Goddam, like clockwork. Nothing is ever simple in Browns Town.

He's definitely earn the spot of starter for the rest of the season, and position himself to be our backup QB going forward too. I feel like he's good enough to win a game, or two, with an injury. He proved that much today.

I agree with everything you said here. First, I absolutely believe that Josh Gordon is important to the offense. If he can mature to the point where he's not risking taking himself off the field, then Gordon will be something special.

On Hoyer, you can tell that he had some communication break-downs. I'm concerned, but there are reasons to believe that over time they can be corrected. The right side of the line will be a problem until Lauvao is back and even then the problems still may linger throughout the season. Hoyer hasn't been doing much work with the 1's to this point, so I think that we'll see the team more in sync as he plays more. I don't think that the interceptions will go away completely, as Hoyer isn't very gun-shy. I do think that there is reason to be optimistic in what the offense can look like.

Hoyer played well enough to win today but he didn't look good. I'm curious to see where he takes us but make no mistake, we will draft a QB with our first pick this year.

I think he did great today. I say give him a chance the rest of the season, and if he leads us to the promised land, keep him, otherwise drop him fast and furious for Manziel.

Good thing what you say doesnt go.

One thing I saw from Hoyer is that he actually hit receivers in stride. something Weeden never seems to do.
