The End of an Era: Case Keenum Traded to Buffalo

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Which team in the next 4 weeks has a better defense than Denver? Is Pittsburgh really better?

When the Browns have a healthy Oline, they can still run when opponents load up the box.

“We were loaded up for the run, and they blocked us and ran it — we couldn’t stop them,” Fangio said of the final drive

Denver's overall numbers for the season are very skewed from the fact they feasted on the Jets, Jaguars and Giants (combined 3 wins) early in the season.

They're very bad.

Was there a huge difference in the game plan on offense between with Baker and Keenum? I didn’t recognize much difference. Mostly dump offs, intermediate throws with a couple shots downfield and a heavy dose of the run game… It’s almost like in this offense you can plug in a game manager for another game manager and be fine with how you operate.

We had a couple long drives that ate up a lot of clock as well, just couldn’t capitalize on some. Should’ve put up more points than we did.

I know semantics, but the teams Denver beat are very bad, Denver i would classify as just not good.

Fair. Denver is a team capable of beating the dregs and not much more than that.

They seem primed to go 6-11 or 7-10.

Exactly, 6 or 7 wins isnt awful, just not good. There was a time the Browns would die to be a 6 or 7 win team, lol.

1-31 in 2 years? Now that is awful, lol.

Keenum was perfectly solid. His limitations compared to a guy like Baker in arm talent are huge, but the Stefanski offense can run pretty well with underneath stuff, screens, and quick slants or curls. I think we're lucky to have a guy like him to plug in and if we had a worse back-up, and most teams in the NFL do have a worse back-up, we probably don't win last night.

Now lets all hope we don't need him to play against Pittsburgh.

He had some really bad reads though and took way too long for a few throws. Also didn't help when he got a few good passes in, OBJ dropped them. But hopefully they work the kinks out, considering they had 3 days to prepare and we were missing multiple first options. The Steelers game is so damn important.

It seemed like more screen plays were called than normal, but maybe that's just because Denver ran a shit ton as well.

also no idea if it was the play calls or Keenum but not as many downfield shots. Also at least early on Keenum seemed to be picking his targets before the snap.

I wish some of that offense could be in play when Baker is in. 99% of the issue with Baker is that he holds on the ball too long, and they try too often to drop the "F.U." pass. A little Boody Ball wouldn't hurt every now and then.

As for Keenum, he was the QB on a playoff Viking team, who had the misfortune of running into the Eagles (who thankfully stopped a Boody Ring that year). So I'm glad he's No. 2, since he doesn't play so much like No. 2.

They are 24th in Overall Defensive DVOA. 21st against the pass, 20th against the rush.

They have accrued a lot of stats against bad offenses.

DVOA ranks their schedule as the easiest defensive schedule in the league, to this point.

The downfield shot he did take to OBJ was awful...but that's why he's not a starter.

He was throwing into the wind on a breezy night. Wasn't a good plan. Who knows though? Maybe he makes it with a tail wind?:thumbup:

I think Keenum is serviceable but he needs everything to go right to pick up a win against a good team. I don't trust our defense to make a stop. Do we think Keenum can drive down the field on every possession?
