The Finals | Game 1 | Cavs @ Warriors | June 2nd, 2016 | 9:00pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tonight was like Rorschach Test and, as you'd expect, every stored-up discontent is being aired postgame by us fans.

I didn't mind the defensive strategy on curry and Thompson, I'll live with their bench and role players getting shots. And the game plan of posting up love and LBJ worked okay but we need more cutters off that action - it's like the double teams were coming and we got nothing from it whereas when we doubles the Warriors got wide open layups. Post ups doesn't mean you have zero off ball action and cutting.

Every damn offensive foul took crucial points away from us.

Iggy drew a double I believe on one switch. Whether its a miss or not doesn't matter if it's an open shot. Certain lineups Kyrie has to be taken out. The Warriors are far too smart and will find the mismatch every time. Unlike us, we go away from it too much.

Irving was one of the best Cavs defenders tonight; easily.

Late in the 3rd quarter, as I recall, he was leading the team in plus-minus, AFAIK (+4). Hard to argue he was poor defensively considering he played such good perimeter defense.

If you literally want to add nothing to this thread or board, have at it.

You aren't the posting police. The Cavs flushed a golden opportunity to steal a game against a better team.

If you want to call people babies and pussies, go for it. That's obviously what this is all about right?
Was it really even an opportunity though? Yeah the "Splash Bros" played like shit but it almost feels like it was at the cost of role players such as Livingston/Barnes/Iggy doing whatever the fuck they want. Nothing about this loss felt like an anomaly, sadly. Well, except Klay/Curry combining for 20 points...

FUCK.

The loss isn't the problem. Cavs were expected to lose. It was the abandonment of everything that got them to this point that really kills me. Way too much iso ball and standing around, wonky rotations, not boxing out, etc. Even when we were up it felt like the Warriors had control of the game.

Schematically, we're lost. We aren't making passes that lead to anything mainly because we are so stagnant. Passing just to pass, then to pass it back to the player who originally passed it.

The Warriors are abusing us as far as X's and O's, mismatches, switches, ect. If we're going to try to win based on talent (which is what it looked like to me) then this series will be over in 4 or 5 games.
This X100000000000000000. This game was all about schemes. Our schemes were horrible. I thought we had moved away from this style of play? Wasn't this the playing style that got Blatt fired? Now Lue experiments with this in the Finals?!!!! I just can't...

Agree. I think he was a couple of inches too short though. But I like the effort. And if they could just not be the victims of referee bias.

Truth is, if Steph and Klay combined for 60 and beat us tonight we would still feel as dejected. In the finals, a loss is a loss.

Pig out, binge drink, jack off, meditate or do whatever you can to take your mind off tonight and stop with the overreactions. I know it sucks buts its still just one game.

What perplexes me is how promising the game looked early. We trapped up top and forced players like Green and Barnes to beat us. LeBron got what he wanted. Love hit a few shots.

Then things just went south and in a bunch of ways not worth hashing out again as this thread covers them all in depth. I think we have potential to win game 2, but we need to become more disciplined and play more holistically or this is over in 4 or 5.

okay then explain how his game plan of iso was a good idea? clearly it was a game plan with them going in the post with Love and Lebron the 1st 2 quarters. explain to me why it was good game plan to go with kyrie with the 2nd unit instead of the more successful lebron 2nd unit. explain me the game plan to not play frye at all in the 2nd half and why we are still using delly and kyrie on livingston when he always torch these guys in the regular season and not use the taller Richardson on him?

i have no beef with you..i just need people to explain their reasoning in support of this gameplan.
@NoTitleTown

@gourimoko

@Czvosec

If you guys can explain that to me and answer my questions and explain why it was a good gameplan by Lue and make it fucking make sense , i will never mention the name blatt or lue ever again. if i do, i will ask a MOD to ip ban me forever.

Iggy literally cocked his arm back to hit Delly. Is there a nut sack exception to clear technical foul behavior?

Yeah pretty much. There was effort but the execution left a lot to be desired.
