Yeah, I thought of that -- the Blue Jays aren't exactly intimidating anyone either. But those are all long-standing names, not names to which anyone is considering changing now. Resurrecting a name that on its face represents either: 1) a creepy arachnid, or 2) an ectomorph, seems kind of pointless.

Commodores is just boring. There’s a reason Vandy hasn’t come up with any logo that can stick, it’s just not a fun. Too much of a mouthful and is already used by a well known D1 school.

Need to come up with a name of our own. Or just let it be.

I like the fact that the nickname has a connection to the city, but think we can do better than what's ultimately a guy in a powdered wig and a goofy hat.

Spiders is a non-starter for me. Most people dislike spiders. I could live with either Commodores or Guardians but really don’t much care for any of the options mentioned so far.

I don’t know. I’m kind of digging the University of Richmond alternate logo.

Why? Marvel has a character named "Black Widow", but the black widow spider existed long before Marvel named a character after them. There are other business entities that have "Black Widow" in their name as well. That being said, I'd hate the name anyway.

Anyhow, stay away from spiders, not a name that is going to conjure up good memories for a lot of people - including me.
