Seeing all of these cool proposed logos on here, and across the internet, made me realize that a potential benefit to a name change would/should be an uptick in merchandise sales. I have no idea how much of that money the club sees, but for a franchise that could be needing some money after a shortened season, every extra dollar probably helps.

What you say here is a significant reason for this being a relatively easy move....addressing both the moment and marketing.

now this doesnt surprise me at fucking at all.

Ownership doesnt give a shit about the actual name, they just care about making money. I cant believe i didnt realize that earlier.

hope not
Is Tribe racist ?
Cultural appropriation. The days of using phrases like "My Tribe" and labeling an executive as a "Chief" are numbered

I find this mostly true, but I also believe they are addressing the moment...even if the moment (eventually) fuels commerce.
They care about their name and their brand. I do not believe uprooting long time fixtures is ever easy, but this is one that has percolated for years and has now reached an inflection point.

Jews refer to themselves as members of the tribe all the time because of the original 12 tribes of Israel. Just saying the term Tribe isn't exclusively Native American.

If I had to pick one of these, I'd go Moondogs (not sure if it would be 2 words of one)
