I dont know if anybody has read about it at all, but the Akron Zips who fell to a last second shot to the Miami Redhawks in the MAC Championship got snubbed by the NCAA.
A team with a 67 RPI rating and 26 wins could have had a case to be on the bubble for the NCAA tourney.
But after the MAC loss, there was a pretty good guess that they werent going to make it....but they also got snubbed by the NIT.
How does a team with 26 victories not make atleast the NIT???
There are three teams in the NIT with seasons of just 2 games above .500. NC State, Georgia and Depaul. 18 wins a peice.
Akron, with 26, would have been the highest winner of all the teams in the NIT.
I cant beleive they didn't get selected for atleast the NIT, that is just flat out wrong. Especially after last season when they did make it to the NIT with just 22 wins and upset Temple in the first round.
