I dont know if anybody has read about it at all, but the Akron Zips who fell to a last second shot to the Miami Redhawks in the MAC Championship got snubbed by the NCAA.

A team with a 67 RPI rating and 26 wins could have had a case to be on the bubble for the NCAA tourney.

But after the MAC loss, there was a pretty good guess that they werent going to make it....but they also got snubbed by the NIT.

How does a team with 26 victories not make atleast the NIT???

There are three teams in the NIT with seasons of just 2 games above .500. NC State, Georgia and Depaul. 18 wins a peice.

Akron, with 26, would have been the highest winner of all the teams in the NIT.

I cant beleive they didn't get selected for atleast the NIT, that is just flat out wrong. Especially after last season when they did make it to the NIT with just 22 wins and upset Temple in the first round.

I honestly thought the MAC would get two and maybe a third bid to the NIT, who has been very MAC friendly in the past. Akron was close to deserving an NCAA bid and should have been a lock for the NIT, I agree entirely.

Wow, not even making the NIT. That's a crime. That bankshot buzzer-beating three by Miami was garbage.

I was really disappointed to see Akron lose that game. But they had so many chances to put Miami away and they couldn't do it. What a lucky shot to save a shitty season by Miami. Now they are a 14 seed and will get slaughtered by Oregon. Akron probably could've gotten a 13 seed and would've maybe had a legit shot to upset someone, but I really can't see Miami doing anything against Oregon.

How they didn't get an NIT invite is beyond me. Dambrot must be pissed. He is a heck of a coach and is doing a great job there...I think he has 3 straight 20 win seasons for Akron...20, 22, and now 26 if i'm not mistaken.

Air Force should have got in as well, even though they lost there last couple games, they had a good season, and i think Service Academys should be given a little more slack since they have very few scholarships to give out, and hell, they are helping to protect our lives by fighting over-seas.

LeBron with a little cold words..

"Hopefully they can just look back at the success they had the last 4 years and get over it"

I'm sure Joyce and Travis loved seeing that from the NBA Player to be on TV the next 15 years :chuckles:

syracuse got robbed and didnt get in either.. total bs!

They at least got an invite to be in the NIT... Akron didn't even get that.

you were talkin trash to, who won the Big East...

and Romeo can now live the life in LeBrons entourage and live off his money.

i doubt he'll complain about that. lol.
i'd live off lebrons money if he let me.

Akron didn't make the NIT? What? That's BS. They have a great team with a couple of very good college players (Travis, Joyce, and others).

They could have been in the NCAA tourny and a high seed in the NIT.

If Akron had beat MU at least one more time, they would have got in, but when you lose 2 times to the best team you play, its not gonna help your case.

I heard the NIT is mainly to fill seats and make money. They don't always just give the best teams an invite.Akron did get ripped off though.

That argument would make sense if they didn't make the NIT last year with 22 wins... I don't get it.
