The Jimmy Haslam Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let’s tear down a building designed by one of the most famous architects of the last century to build a football stadium. Splendid idea.

The ideal solution is tearing down the current one and building a new one on the same site, maybe with some of the features you mentioned and integrating the Science Center and Rock Hall into it, but that would involve playing outside of Cleveland for a couple years. The Hall of Fame stadium is the only place they could play in the area but it’d be dramatically reduced seating capacity. Maybe Akron but that stadium isn’t as nice. Otherwise they’d have to play in Columbus.
I didn't think his post even warranted a response.

The site he proposed doesn't cover enough land. The Rock Hall hangs out onto the water. It still has all of the problems of the current site... and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It does look quite a bit like the tip of an iceberg.

Isn't the ideal thing to make the stadium in the pit which is the plot of land to the west of the current stadium then demonlish the current stadium to build the other stuff they want to build out the lake front? Assuming they don't want to take over burke lake front airport for the stadium.

Isn't that the lake shipping port?

I think part of it is. Part of it is just a big dirt lot. I would think it would be easier to relocate the shipping port than the airport. Maybe you are just relocating some of the buildings on the land or land near it and maintaining the port.

I think the port made sense in that location when the flats were all industrial and the warehouse district were actually warehouses. Does it make sense to have a port like that right in the middle of downtown by the shoreline?

The ideal thing is for folks worth several BILLION dollars, who own 3 virtual printing presses, to build their own stadiums in locations that most benefit the fans that help make them billionaires...

Since that won't happen, I'd love to see them build a stadium in the flats behind Tower City.

If they helped the poors, they'd only be 900millionaires. Won't someone think of the shareholders?!?

He is absolutely paying attention. Sounds like the big question is where a new Browns stadium will be built more than anything else.

I quite like how that doesn't look like a football stadium from the outside.
