This alone isn't enough to be really optimistic but it definitely helps to have current and former plays praise what kind of person and coach Stefanski is. I'm a believer.

Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins said that the very best Browns offense they've played in was Shanny's, and the fact that Stefanski runs a similar kind of offense makes me feel pretty good. Not because of Shanny, but because for years I've been angrily preaching at the screen how we don't effectively utilize play-action. It's the best way to marry the run game with the pass game and keep defenses guessing, making it easier on your QB. Hoyer sucked but put up a half-decent year because of it and I've no doubt Baker could do better than that especially with the weapons we have on offense.

It's like... our offense is FINALLY going in the direction I've been groveling for. I can't wait all over again lol.

“They did an unbelievable job with their entire process and I really believe they had to be the most thorough team in the entire hiring process,’’ he said. “I’m very grateful to have that opportunity and I do think they’re moving in the right direction and I do think they’re going to get it right.’’

He's just good at keeping his options open. He knows if history is any indicator, there's a good chance he can interview for the job again in a year or two.

I’m so damn stoked! Best and most exciting article I’ve read yet on Stefanski!

I wouldn't want to ask you to post an article from behind a paid firewall, but could you summarize one of the reasons this article had you feeling optimistic?

Ahh, didn’t realize it was fire walled.

Anyways - there is a lot there... most of it we already know. But a few tidbits.

1) Stefanski used motion on third down more than any other coach and had the highest success rate.

2) Stefanski does not use 11 personnel and disguises passes to look like runs. What that means is that play action works great and non-play action passes work very similarly to play action.

3) Stefanski uses outside zone more than any coach in the NFL. He uses less traditional running schemes than Shanahan, but also uses versatility in the offensive line more.

He brought in the Vikings developmental fullback already, but I hope that the draft brings another tight end/move blocker. We don't know what will happen with Njoku, but even if he returns to form they need somebody else for the run game/play action game.
