the thing that’s the most frustrating for me is we know when we fail that we’re going to fail.

Week in and week out, same things. You can’t call four great drives (two scoring and largely thr two fourth quarter) and then just proceed to not call EVERY possession like that.
Exactly, it seems sometimes we just don't do the things that we know work. Sometimes is just feels inexplicable.

Run play here, cute play fail there, TE screen here, RB screen there, 5 wide quick pass every other play in-between...

Fact is and it's starting now with former players on TV talking... Stefanski isn't drawing up plays favoring his #1 target. 2 targets today... 3 catches in 2 weeks... our #1 WR, allegedly open 70% of his routes per PFF, we are using him to be a fucking decoy. Fuck throwing a deep shot to him on 2nd and 1. Fuck that attempt right, doesn't take rocket science to call such a play.

Quit fucking around with the game when it comes to offense. Calling plays and not believing in your QB like you have piss coming down your leg.

If he's open on 70% of his plays isn't it on the QB to get it to him, not the coach to get him open?

I think its 50/50. Coaching has made Baker into a game manager when he is a gun slinger. if ur getting beat on in practice to dump and dump then ur not gonna get to ur 2nd/3rd option down the field. But Baker also has to step up and say hey OBJ is open and we need to push the ball. There has to be some kind of happy medium.

I agree, though the year Baker did this (2019) it led to disastrous results. Consider that OBJ was 25% of Baker's targets yet was being targeted on 38% of Baker's interceptions that year.

I want to see him get the ball to OBJ for completions, not simply throw the ball and not connect. IMO it's done and over with barring some miraculous ascent.

He’s really looking like Just Another Coach offensively. Or a JAC OFF for short.

Every week the film shows big plays are there to be made. We just don't have a QB who can make them. We left 3 TD's on the field today. One to Schwartz, one to Hooper, and one to Odell. That's a lot of points that we missed out on because our QB couldn't get the ball to our guys.

Also notice how the offense looks in the first 15 scripted plays and the first 15 plays coming out o halftime. We're a different team when we're off script. The play calling and coaching is the same. The only difference is the training wheels are off for the QB when it's not scripted.

I agree with this some what. but as a coach u put ur players in a position to succeed and we are not with baker. There is some blame on Baker but good coaches get the best out of their players and I don't think ours is right now. On one of those 3 it hit the guy in the palms--Hooper. Yes it was high but that was a drop. OBJ makes any effort on that ball we are in red zone, Landry doesn't drop 2 we are in the red zone.

You have to get Baker moving. A couple of roll outs helps him. He is not the greatest moving up the pocket passer. But if u coach him and call plays to make him a game manager it is what u are going to get.

You're suggesting this like opposing defenses aren't trying to take this away.

That is my point. No team is just gonna line up and let us roll Baker out and make him comfortable. At some point he has to be able to work off of the game script. Make plays.

Ur right. I mean we have heard from our OL and opponents defense saying they played a 6-2 all night to take out the run and QB movement. If teams are playing a 6-2 guys should running wild down field.

If you look at the efficiency and production of our QB play, we are outperforming our expected wins IMO.

Mayfield lands in the bottom 3rd of just about every QB advanced stat. The other QB's he is paired with:

D.Jones (2-5)
J.Garoppolo (3-4)
S.Darnold (4-4)
J.Hurts (3-5)
B.Mayfield (4-4)
T.Heinicke (2-6)
B.Roethlisberger (4-4)
T.Lawrence (1-6)
J.Goff (0-8)

So we have (tied) the best record amongst these dumpster fire of QB's and people are arguing we should actually have a better record, right?

When you look at this list and how terrible these QB's are, how are we not getting good coaching if the record is tied for the best of this bad group and potentially should be even better?

It seems these ideas would be in opposition?

Awesome, now Stefanski is going to draw up more plays that feature Beckham more, when thus far he’s done absolutely nothing to deserve it.

Yes the Stefanski screen and check down offense has been working so well…

The book is out on Mr Ivy League. And Baker. Sell out to stop the run. Put the ball in Bakers hands. He will fuck it up
