The Mandalorian

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This was my other thought.

Well, he wouldn’t be the first one to do it.

He’s also dead now, so it’s not like he’d have to face any consequences.

Would just kind of ruin his legacy as the greatest Jedi ever though would it not? Hope Disney doesn’t go down that path here.

Background on Yoda's species:

There was a female member of the species in the prequels named Yaddle. She was a Jedi and I know nothing else about her.

The species has never been named. Early drafts of what became "A New Hope" had a framing story. This story (and all subsequent stories) were supposed to be from "The Journal of the Whills". The Whills were mysterious, ancient, small in population and a highly force sensitive species who were tasked with keeping the history of the galaxy (supposedly R2-D2 told one of the Whills the events of the original trilogy years after ROTJ). For a long time, people theorized that Yoda's species was in fact the Whills. Lucas debunked this. The Whills were potentially to be the focus of episodes 7,8 and 9 had Lucas kept creative control.

Since Lucas has no say, it would not surprise me if they retcon Yodas species as the Whills. I'd probably prefer that they stay unamed, or that they aren't the Whills, but it certainly could work.

I don't think this is Yodas child, and would prefer it not to be. However, I am sure Yoda is/was aware of its existence. Yoda appearing as a force ghost, at least, certainly would make sense.

The child has been there at least 50 years, which means it has been there since at least the prequel era. It's possible that it could be Yodas child, which would give his dealings with Anakin during the prequels an added layer.

As far the actual show:

I really enjoyed it. Star Wars is just a vast universe with vast potential. Not everything has to be big space battle and force lore. Don't get me wrong, I love the space battles and force lore, but a) that can be done badly (see The Last Jedi) and b) other stuff can be great (see Rogue One).

The idea of a bounty hunter operating in seedy cantinas and battling gangsters can be a lot of fun. The idea the biggest battle being a Butch Cassidy style shootout can be fun. You add in a little lore, some easter eggs (there were a TON. I stopped counting after like 8) and you get a show for everyone.

Just don't go retconning too much, and I think it'll be great.

Wish they would have done the backstory of Boba Fett though. Think it would’ve been a lot more interesting and could’ve played off of some old characters a bit like Jabba the Hut.

Would’ve been great.

Respectfully disagree. I find it more interesting that they're doing something completely new and unique. Building new storylines and new characters, rather than relying on characters and storylines that George Lucas created 40+ years ago to fuel the plot of Star Wars

They did.

It was called Attack of the Clones

They sure went deep into the backstory of 10 year old Boba Fett. He's a clone of his father, Jango, who was killed by Mace Windu

I'm excited to watch it when I get from work today or maybe watch it this weekend. Either way, I'm excited. Will they be putting a new episode on every week?

Episode 2 is out this Friday, then they'll be out every Friday going forward.

Except Episode 7 (2nd to last), will be out Weds 12/18. Creating an longer-than-usual gap before the season finale, Fri 12/27

That also coincides with TROS being released.

First episode was AWESOME!! Can't wait to watch the second episode AND start playing Fallen Order on Friday!!

Yeah, that back story was a huge disappointment.

I think in the extended universe Boba Fett wasn't a Mandalorian at all, but rather a guy who killed a Mandalorian and stole his armor. Pretty sure that was from the Han Solo trilogy, although it has been ages since I've read a Star Wars book.

At any rate, given that Lucas already ruined Fett's back story, I'm fine with the decision to create an original character for this show. I'd have to imagine telling the story of how Boba Fett from the prequels became a legendary bounty hunter would also require bringing back the actor that played his dad, as he was a clone of that dude, right? And that dude was lame (and probably kind of old now, which wouldn't make sense from a narrative standpoint). Pedro Pascal is way better.

I also like the post-Empire setting because it allows them a bit more freedom with where they can take the story.

First episode was good. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Anyone know when the Marvel shows are going to start dropping?

Figure this is the best place to ask this...

What Clone Wars stuff should I watch? I see there's multiple different things on Disney+ that say Clone Wars. It's confusing.

He’s in the Clone Wars show. So some of his backstory is in there as well.
