The Mandalorian

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Figure this is the best place to ask this...

What Clone Wars stuff should I watch? I see there's multiple different things on Disney+ that say Clone Wars. It's confusing.

So the one under specials looks like the movie that came to theaters after Revenge came out. Has Samuel L Jackson and Christopher Lee coming back. It’s meh. Then there’s the show which is great.

Watch the actual Clone Wars series. I believe it's the first one listed in series.

FYI, the first 3 seasons are very hit-or-miss - certainly full of fluff and filler episodes catered to younger audience but when it hits, it is entertaining as hell. It really hits its stride over seasons 5-6 but can feel like a slog at times to get to episodes that move all the plot lines forward.

Yeah, that back story was a huge disappointment.

I think in the extended universe Boba Fett wasn't a Mandalorian at all, but rather a guy who killed a Mandalorian and stole his armor. Pretty sure that was from the Han Solo trilogy, although it has been ages since I've read a Star Wars book.

At any rate, given that Lucas already ruined Fett's back story, I'm fine with the decision to create an original character for this show. I'd have to imagine telling the story of how Boba Fett from the prequels became a legendary bounty hunter would also require bringing back the actor that played his dad, as he was a clone of that dude, right? And that dude was lame (and probably kind of old now, which wouldn't make sense from a narrative standpoint). Pedro Pascal is way better.

I also like the post-Empire setting because it allows them a bit more freedom with where they can take the story.

First episode was good. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Anyone know when the Marvel shows are going to start dropping?

I wasn't going to watch this - sounded like something for expanded universe fans and I've never gotten into that. But I'm a big fan of Pedro Pascal so I may just give it a shot.

That does make it sound more interesting. Rogue One had a Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven vibe that I thought elevated the tone, and made it less cartoony than the main series.

Yeah totally agree and Rogue One has been the only Star Wars movie that I've truly enjoyed since the original trilogy. Great overall film and the Vader scene at the end is one of the best scenes in any Star Wars film.

The Mandalorian has a few cartoony moments, like when he has to learn to ride a reptilian creature that functions as a horse, but even that scene at least serves the purpose of showing that he's not amazing at everything, as up to that point you basically only see him being a total badass.

First episode wasn't mind-blowing or anything but it was good enough for me to continue watching.

Enjoying this so far but at times it feels a bit...stale. Needs more music/background noise at times when dialogue is at a minimum.

It doesn't feel like a week to week show to me. It could end up being a show that is more enjoyable to binge. There really isn't much to discuss or digest about the show. It's really a pretty clearly plot with little mystery to it.

This week's episode felt like one of those marvel shorts that they use to put out with DVDs.

I actually love the pacing, and the space the story is given to breath. The current trilogy feels like they're just cramming as much as possible into every second of screen time, and I personally thought that got old quickly. For me, this show creates depth by giving space...kind of like David Gilmour's guitar playing. Weird analogy, I know....

Episode 3 was the best bit of Star Wars since Rogue One. Easily.

Last nights episode was awesome! Easily the best so far. Looks like we’re finally getting some real direction.

I think it's amazing how much emotion we can read from a lead actor with long stretches of silence... wearing a Boba Fet styled mask. That's a high degree of difficulty.

Oh, after Episode 3 I agree with all of this.
