Damn that thing is sweet-looking.

Re: New iMac

I like my MacBook...but I might look for something like this in the future.

Re: New iMac

I'm getting a new laptop in 2 years, and Mac is surely the way to go.

Re: New iMac

Just when I thought I wouldn't want anything else for a while, this thing comes out.

I think I might sell my current Mac to get my hands on one of these.

Re: New iMac

I love how they add a bazillion cords for the CPU when there isnt that many to begin with.

The whole MAC/PC battle cracks me up. I just dont see why anybody would drop that much money on a MAC. Those are crack prices...plus the power of the machine isnt that special to begin with.

Ill buy my $250 PC every three/four years and have more power capability than the MAC and surf the web. At the end of the day, I use messenger occasionally, but for the most part, Im surfing the web. Im not dropping a grand for a system just because it has fewer cords.

Re: New iMac

It takes me to the same internet, so i dont give a fuccccccck.

Re: New iMac

Its not just about the power. Its about the eXPerience.

APPLE ftw again.

Re: New iMac

Does it help with your breakdancing videos?

Re: New iMac

Apple is just a classy computer. That's all there is to it.

Apple is like the Motorolla Razr. And a Dell is a Nokia s40, it will take voicemail, text message and have cool ringtones. It just doesn't look as good as a Razr.

R-Law, it hasnt helped you out, you still act like a fruit cake.

And whats the difference? People walk into your house, oh he has a Mac, cooool. Can you tell what computer people are using when they post? My laptop hasnt broke yet, so i dont think ill fix it.

Re: New iMac

It honestly really doesn't matter what anyone else sees in your house. It's for self satisfaction. Do you buy a leather couch for others to look at? No, you get it for yourself.

:chuckles: I know i was looking at that myself they used extra long cords for all the stuff to make it look jumbled. :chuckles:

That Mac does look sleek but how do you work on that? If for instance i wanna change out my vid card or sound card for a better version or maybe something dies on me do I have to take it into the Apple store for them to fix it? PC's are easy to fix just open up the side pop out the old pop in the new is it the same for a Mac like that new one?

Re: New iMac

I never had to fix up my Mac so I couldn't tell ya. As for video cards and stuff like that, I believe only PC gamers have to deal with that. Mac hasn't entered the realm of gaming, but they should since it's a big market.

As a former technician who worked on PC and MAC technology, I can tell you that MACs were terrible to work on. Since MAC went with aesthetics over engineering, starting with the iMAC, you were pretty much toast if any piece of your system failed. The monitors/CRTs were the worst; if you didn't discharge the CRT properly when replacing it (and, yes, you actually had to replace it, as opposed to buying a new monitor), you could take an electric charge powerful enough to knock you the F out. Plus, any parts that needed replaced had to be replaced using MAC parts, which were twice as much as the PC counterparts. The failure rate of the MACs we saw in the field was fairly alarming to our department. We had 5 techs, and 4 engineers. 3 of the techs were dedicated to just MACs, even though we had 10 times as many PCs in the field. This may seem weird, but part of this was due to the fact that some of the procedures for trying to replace parts were absurd. It took 3 times longer to open up a MAC case and replace an item as it did to remove the cover off a PC and replace a card or drive.

Now don't get me wrong, MACs are hands down better in a graphic design capacity, as well as, simplicity and ease of use. They definitely have their place. And most MAC users cannot stand Windows, claiming things like stolen design (which is true).
