My favorite thing on the Mabels' menu is the JW potatoes. Basically round yukon gold potatoes that are halved and deep fried with a sherry vinegar. So good.

I'm a bit of a bbq snob because I lived in Texas for a few years. Mabel's is definitely the best I've had in Ohio and I echo that I love Symon's unique spins to make it its own style. A close 2nd is Ray Ray's down in Columbus. Totally different style- much more saucy- but super good brisket. Proper Pig in Lakewood looks the part but falls short in flavor, in my opinion. I need to try some of the other places but their photos don't inspire a ton of confidence.

Proper Pig's smoked turkey is incredible (to my BBQ-unrefined palate). Someone brought it for our friendsgiving this year.

I think Woodstock in Lakewood is pretty good, for like a fast-casual BBQ joint. It doesn't compare to Mabel's in terms of quality, but it's cheaper and more approachable.

Admittedly have not had their smoked turkey. I like turkey as much as the next guy, but not necessarily a meat I am seeking out outside of thanksgiving, personally.

I had not heard of Woodstock, but the photos online look solid. The one that prompted my comment is Ribcage Smokehouse (I think). It just looks like they dowse their meat in sauces

We were given those on accident (ordered the loaded potatoes) but it was a very happy mistake haha.

I loved making stops at Ray-Ray's back when I was at OSU. It was so close to the Giant Eagle me and my roommates shopped, making it was a no-brainer to pick up a bite before or after. I was so happy to see that their pitmaster was nominated as a James Beard semi-finalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes a couple weeks ago.

If your favorite local restaurants are offering delivery, takeout and/or curbside pick-up options in this current climate, and you're in a position of financial and physical security right now, please do everything you can to support them. Buy gift cards too.

Went to a uppity place a month in a half ago with my girl called The Keep. It's in downtown Columbus. Went on restaurant week because it is quite expensive. But man, was it good.

Had a dish called Saddleberk Pork (loin&braised shoulder) that was delicious. ANd I don't normally go for pork loin. As in, I never go for it.

Would recommend but you gotta be ready to spend a decent chunk of money.

Glad someone got a dialogue going on Columbus. I went for a birthday trip last year and had two of my favorite meals in 2019. Both places were attached to distilleries (Service Bar and Watershed Kitchen & Bar). For my money, they’re two of the best restaurants in the state. Really creative, seasonal food and great bar programs. Service Bar was especially excellent, as they take a lot of Southeast Asian and Bengali flavors and package them in more conventional, traditional American dishes.

Aab, Indian Restaurant. I simply love this place. They have two locations, one in Bexley and one in Grandview. Gonna make sure to get take-out every week with the girlfriend to help them out. Personal favorite is the Shrimp Saag.

Wife and I usually go out once a week, so we’re gonna do takeout once a week. Unfortunately take outs don’t offer alcohol, so our bill won’t be as much.

Did Geracis in pepper pike last night.Really good pizza!

Surprised no one is talking about the whole Townhall debacle. Now they’re suing Cleveland Scene. I have fucking hated that place, but now I’m for sure not going to the George restaurants

Wow.

I can't believe they're keeping Hartzell employed after that. Time to boycott one of the better beer selections around.

I know I've said this on here before, but I'll say it again. I really appreciate TownHall. On weeekend nights, it's the place on West 25th that all the dude-bro's and douches congregate at, so there's fewer of them at the rest of the places.
