The Rise of Skywalker spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To think they rushed the final two seasons for what should have been the greatest show of all-time for this...

The Mandalorian show looks like it should be really good.

I didn't have a lot of faith in their Star Wars trilogy anyway because every time they strayed from the Thrones source material it usually sucked, outside of a few scenes. Their trilogy would have ended up just like the other new trilogy...poorly plotted and illogical but nice to look at.

Oh, for sure.

its still frustrating as a GoT fan. Ruined the best show ever for no literally reason now

Sequels better than prequels and I hate TLJ.

But Phantom Menace is one of the 5 worst movies Ive ever watched in a movie theater.

If you havent watched it lately, I IMPLORE you to watch the "big" battle scene at the end between the droids and the alien things that Jar Jar belongs to. Its so hilariously bad. The worst battle in major movie history hands down.

Now..thabk Jesus Dan and Dave are off. Because the ONE thing I now want to see in Star Wars is someone to do something with the Old Republic and god I didnt want it to be those two jackasses.

Can I ask why TLJ is hated so much? I loved that movie and the themes that it brings up. Also the scene with holdo going light speed was incredible in theatres.

I’ll openly admit im a big not huge fan of star wars but have been more casual in the past 10 yrs.

sidenote: the Leah thing could have been great if properly explained through a few scenes to begin the movie or in the force awakens with her using some sort of force sensitivity....but it was bad live

The new characters in the sequels are lot easier to enjoy than the new characters in the prequels. Prequels were so stiff. Sequels are at least fun. Perhaps a bit too goofy at times.

The acting is just so much better, even if the stories are derivative.

Well, for one, the whole casino side quest felt pointless and boring.

But, imo, all of the interesting plot points that TFA set up TLJ just tossed aside.

For instance, I was really intrigued by the idea of Snoke not being a Sith or Jedi and I wanted to know more. And.....nada.

I was also really interested in what secrets Luke might have found at the first Jedi Temple and.......nada. He was just hiding in the end. And just to REALLY drive the point home that it didn't matter, Yoda burned it down. Neat. That type of stuff.

And now seeing the trailer for the last movie and that Sidious is again the main bad guy it's just like..man. Not only could you not come up with an original storyline, you couldn't even come up with an original character. Big let down.

I 100% agree with the casino thing

I think they could work into the canon that what if Sidious was actually Darth Plageuis, and he learned how to move his soul from body to body using the force?? Could explain away snokes abilities and how palpating is still alive after all of this. Would make sense especially with force ghosts and force reanimation(Luke in TLJ) being possible....

Yeah, but then he looks like an idiot being outsmarted(very easily) by Ren.

Can I ask why TLJ is hated so much?
a.) Luke's return to the screen was underwhleming. He was a hermit that drank weird green milk. He's one of the greatest cinematic heroes of all time, and was reduced to a slapstick bit.

b.) the Leia Poppins scene really made no sense. It was in there as a dumb fakeout.

c.) The Leia/Poe/Holdo storyline was so contrived. If any of them had slightly below average communication skills, that whole sideplot wouldn't have been necessary. They all were on the same side, wanted the same thing, yet because they had to keep secrets from each other, there had to be a coup.

d.) The Finn/Rose casino scene might be as bad as anything in the prequels. Besides the wonky CGI, the character motivations made no sense. Case in point: after Rose and Finn tore up the city, they still had (to their knowledge) failed their mission. They should've thought that they just doomed the galaxy to subjugation to the First Order. So they justify it by saying "well we made them hurt a little and freed some animals, so that makes it worth it". No, dipshits, dooming the galaxy is not fixed by causing some slight property damage that be fixed in a week and freeing some animals that will be recaptured in a few hours, all on a planet so rich it won't even remember you were there. Just so dumb.

As much as I didn't like the Luke storyline, it didn't ruin the movie for me. But they obviously had no idea what to do with the rest of the characters, so they got insanely dumb side plots. Maddening.

e.) Kylo Ren, in both movies, has been built up to be a major badass, then ended the movie looking like a bafoon. It's like they took the cool, menacing parts of Vader in the original trilogy but meshed it with whiny douchiness of Anakin from the prequels. He gets easily defeated in both movies. Hard to take him seriously after all the trouble they went through to build him up.

And it's a shame because his lightsaber duels in both movies have been really well done. I think the throne room scene in TLJ might be my favorite scene of Eps 7 and 8. But then they just shit on his character.

f.) Snoke? Just a diversion. Instead the big bad is the guy we keep making look like a chump.

edit - In the end, it's pretty subjective. Nothing wrong with liking TLJ. These are my problems with it, but there are definitely scenes/parts that I liked.

All of this, and also this:

Ahahaha oh man me and my buddy I went to see this with were laughing out loud at this scene.

He's about to save them all from the giant fucking laser weapon and she stops him because "love will win in the end."

Good god how fucking stupid.

For me that scene was awful. Just a terribly choreographed fight sequence. At the beginning it reminds me of Ninja Turtles or a martial arts spoof movie, where the bad guys do a bunch of spins and jumps for no reason. But then the actual fight choreography might be even worse. The bad guys repeatedly hold off on striking to wait for Rey and Kylo to hit their marks. It's really bad.

I mean, I thought it was better choreographed than any of the prequel fights, but other than that it didn't do much for me. Then again, all the prequel fights are overchoreographed garbage.

We get it, you hate the prequels.
