They're baaaack...Game Thread | 2021-2020 Season | Game #59 | Cavs @ Pistons | Feb. 24, 2022 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Pistons looked a lot quicker and more athletic than the Cavs, especially in the 4th quarter. Like Austin said, the Cavs had nobody who could beat their man off the dribble. The Pistons were jumping into the passing lanes and getting steals. They also dominated the defensive glass despite a signficant height advantage.

Rondo had two turnovers early in the 4th and got benched.

Diallo is shooting 24% on 3's for the season but he was 3-for-3 tonight. Stewart makes 1 out of 8 from deep but he was 1-for-1 tonight. Geez....

Horrible lineups. Period.
Horrible role players!! I wouldn’t mind fallin into the play in spot…..gives us a better shot at another lottery spot! Wayne Embry said it best “When your young players just miss the playoffs it’s a winning season because that means they got better”

There's a certain group of "fans" here who just suck. Same stupid, lazy, idiotic responses every time we lose a game about firing the coach.
Waiting for "we might as well tank"

Regressing to the mean. They play in will be great experience for this team. I don’t see top 6 happening so best to accept that.

Pistons have been beating some very good teams..

Last night, we did not defend at the level we are capable of.. Garland or no, that is how we win games..

Yeah the refs jobbed us. They do it in every game. Yeah we played sloppy. But bench guys going 4 for 4 from three is not acceptable..

Well, hike up your socks and hit the next one..

We didn’t have enough guys who were locked into what we needed to do to win the game. There were too many times tonight we had to pull guys together and find it mentally. And the disappointing part is I felt we went into the break that way and we came out of the break that way. You can’t afford to do that in this league. Teams are too good, players are too good.” - Bickerstaff

Just like the last game in Detroit when the Cavs came in complacent.

Four turnovers in the first four minutess of the fourth quarter opened the door and the Detroit bench blew the hinges off. You'd think a 14-35 team would have a crappy bench but Diallo, McGruder, and Bagley tore up the Cavs last night.

You'd think after 14 years in the NBA Rondo would have learned a lot and know how to take care of the ball but he had six turnovers last night. It seemed like every Cavs turnover resulted in an easy layup or dunk at the other end. Detroit got every loose ball. The Cavs just stood around on offense. I do not recall a single lob and dunk. The Pistons packed the paint and the instant Mobley, Allen, or Marky got the ball in the low post he was surrounded with six hands slapping at the ball. The Pistons committed a lot of fouls but with the Cavs missing 11 free throws the Pistons got away with it.

This is the NBA and even the teams with the worst records have extremely talented players. In any given game any team in the league can beat any other team. Yet we get people in here all the time saying that beating the Detroits, the Houstons, the OKC type teams should be a cake walk. It's rarely a cake walk.

When we have a backcourt that consists of one guy who probably should have retired a year ago, and another guy who is a 2 way G-league player, it puts us at a disadvantage even when those guys are playing halfway decent. So then we get a stream of "fire the coach" bullshit, like clockwork.

We have fans who assume a win is automatic and they're probably some of the same ones who think it's a failure if we don't make it into the eastern conference finals. The bottom line is our talent level is not at that level yet. It never happens overnight, and it takes time. We are way AHEAD of schedule on where we're at. But we're not a finals level team yet, not by a long shot. Just getting to the playoffs and making some noise will be a huge achievement for this group. Winning a first round series would be us over-achieving and would depend on the matchup. So losing a game to the Pistons when we sit 2 of our starting backcourt players should not be seen as catastrophic the way some people act in this conversation.

I don't think it's catastrophic, but my point remains.. this team's identity is defense.. when we are struggling we put the clamps on..

The turnover were really giving the ball to the defender for an easy layup lol fuck this I might skip all the games for the rest of the year too many injuries to over come

Kate Cunningham and the Pistons are ripping away that roty award from Evan Mobley like Charles Oakley ripping aboard away from the Cavs marshmallow bigs back in the day.

Agree with this but it stills hurt to lose by 3 to a 14th place team when you miss 11 free throws. Not to mention letting a guy go 2/3rds of the court in 3 seconds and hit a running 3-pointer as the first quarter expired. Inexcusable.

Inexcusable for who? For JB? The players who were on the floor? We are heavily dependent on having an effective facilitator on the floor and with DG out we're liable to have this kind of outing. Yes, the team played like ass and we were lacking in lots of ways. Ultimately the lack of talent exposes us in areas where we just fall short. The horrible turnovers, defensive disconnect, missed free throws, horrible spacing and passing in general. Games like this are winnable except for us having our heads up our collective asses. JB said as much post game, but it does happen to every team over the course of the season.
