Memphis

Pau Gasol
Shane Battier
Bonzi Wells
Stromile Swift
Jason Williams

Ridiculous, eh? But tabloids can be fun as well.

Gasol won't be traded as he just got a big contract extension. But they might consider something involving Z if we inquired about Gasol. It'd probably be a blockbuster involving 5-6 players in the trade. Ridiculous to think about what we could get.

Pau Gasol + Jason Williams + Jake Tsakalidis
for
Z + Sasha + Newble

Who knows.. could work somehow.

All in the name of fun & speculation, step into the shoes of a GM.

We don't even have a GM. No trade talks have started yet.

I would also do that trade in 2.2 seconds of thought. Some Memphis fans even admit they don't get Pau the ball as much as they should and that he's even better than he's shown he is. If Cleveland even had the slightest chance in hell to get Gasol, I'd jump on it. That way, you get younger and you get a center who can run the floor and make Cleveland more of a running team.

I'd do that trade also, but isn't Gasol Memphis' franchise player? I don't think they would deal him at all.

Gasol, and Gooden already played together once. Gasol's defense, and Gooden's defense combined. That is not good basketball. Gooden was traded because he couldn't play with gasol, i don't think that's changed. not to mention with those 2 defensive weaklings we'll be wishing Z was there to make up for goodens mistakes

Gooden was forced to play out of position at the 3 and was eventually benched. Several questionable moves were going on and I'm not sure I could draw much from Gooden's days in Memphis except that they were chaotic.

Jason Williams, Pau Gasol, Drew Gooden and Lebron James. Now there is alot of talent. But wow, wouldn't that team give up some points. That is a bad defensive team. Not one defensive influense in the squad. Great trade on NBA Live.

No offense to Z but Pau is a better player who is also younger. I would imagine that we would havet to take some bad contracts off Memphis for them to consider such a trade. Otherwise why do it from the Grizzly standpoint?

Jason Williams has a pretty bad contract, 3 more years, about 8mil/year. If he doesn't like the team then it would be considered a burden.

Bonzi Wells has a team option that they will likely decline.

Brian Cardinal has a pretty ugly contract, 6 year/33 mil, only playing 24 minutes per game. He might be that guy we would need to take.

Pioneer, I never said Z is better the Pau or visa versa. I just was stating that our roster will be filled with bad defenders. Definately worse then last years. Pau is an immense talent, but gets abused defensively. That is all.

If we have a chance to get Pau from Memphis, I think we should definetly consider it. He would be a great young player to develop along with Lebron. But ya, we'd have to do something about the defense of that lineup.

I dont have too many problems with a Pau / Gooden front court if we have some solid perimeter defenders. If we can get Gasol, then great. But I dont really wants Williams with him. If we could snap up Watson, I'd be pretty happy. In saying this, I cannot in a million years see them offering Gasol for Z.

That's all that I was thinking Karma. Didn't mean to implie in my post that you were evaluating the players wrong.

Pau and Z are both bad defenders. But still our perimeter D was what was real awful: we were last in the league in 3 point % given up (not to mention all the pick and rolls we got destroyed on). Actually if we could get Posey or Battier along in that trade I would consider it. Even if we had to take bad contract like Wells and Williams along the way. Again have no idea why Memphis would make these moves unless they're planning a complete remake of there roster

I can't see Memphis giving up Gasol either. If they did trade him it they would want more back than Z and Cavs bench players.
I would be happy to get Gasol on the Cavs though. The Cavs then could get the defensive minded rebounding C many want since they'd have a scorer and low post threat at PF in Pau.

I wouldn't want Bonzi. He has a questionable past and after being asked to stay away in Memphis' last playoff game it was a bad sign.
Jason Williams has talent but his character is questionable too.

The Memphis players I'd look at in a Z trade and who might be realistic are Mike Miller, L. Wright, J. Posey, S. Battier, E. Watson (sign and trade) and Antonio Burks-a young PG who I think has a lot of potential. You could get 2 and maybe 3 depending on the 3rd player in a trade.
