Wiz suspended Kwame brown for the play offs. most likely they won't resign him.

Any interest in Kwame Brown?

There will be interest about. He'll only disappoint. Breakout here and there, but in general lack any type of consistency.

No thanks, unless we get him cheap.

I wouldn't mind him as a bench player if we don't bring Tractor back. Kwame has some promise, mabey playing next to Z will make him break out the shell.

I'm not in favor of bringing in players who have questions or character concerns but Kwame might be worth a look. He does have a lot of raw talent and potential. It's tough to pass on players who have his skill and size. He is still only 21 or 22. I do think Kwame badly needs a change of scenary and to get on a new team.

I would only want him if it was at a reasonable salary and if it didn't take a long contract.

Kwame can play good defense and he is so tall and athletic. If he could just ever put it together, he would be a special player in the league. The problem is he is sensative and can be rattled.

If he's not asking for much, I'd look into him. He has had some character issues but was still able to put up pretty solid numbers despite that. He's been a big dissapointment, but he still has a lot of potential and a change of scenery may be just what he needs to get his act together.

Kwame Brown = Diop given minutes.
No thanks, I'm not going to pay him more than an unguaranteed contract. Let some other team take a chance on him. Like Atlanta.

His 'best' season: 30mpg; 48.9%FG; 7.4rpg; 10.9ppg; .7bpg
If you gave Diop 30mpg, he'd probably be around 40%FG; 8rpg, 2bpg; 4ppg. And 4 fouls/game

Brown is a much better player than Diop. That comparison is off because the talent and athleticism isn't even in the same ballpark. Kwame is just inconsistent like Gooden.

I agree West Remy that the comparison betwen Brown and Diop is off base, but so is your comparison with Gooden. Gooden has his faults for bonehead plays within a single game, but overall he was a consistent scorer and rebounder this season and, the real point, he isn't a head case like Brown. I wouldn't touch Brown with a ten foot pole at any price. We don't need any more players like him in the organization.

Kwame may be worth a risk: I'd like for us to keep Z and other priorites such as SG. But if we can get Kwame for a reasonable deal or become desperate for a Z replacement, you could do a lot worse then Brown. He actually looked good this year with more playing time and against the first two games against Chicago

He could easily go the Tim Thomas route of never living up to his potential, but he's probably has better combination of size, height, and athleticism then the other FA C's: Curry, Chandler, or Dalembert

I may shock people when I say this but I think Brown has around the same potential as Gooden. Gooden started the season off slowly and worked his way into a groove. If Brown could start for an entire year and get consistent time all year, he would be an above average but not great player like Gooden. Drew would always be more offensively talented but when Brown is on, his man-to-man defense is light years ahead of Gooden's.

We're getting rid of J-mac. No need to bring Kwame in, or any other guys who may bring in off the court issues

I think you're right, West Remy, in comparing the real Gooden to the theoretical Brown. The latter doesn't have a good offensive game, but he is better defensively than Gooden. I still don't want a whining, quitter who has wasted his professional career anywhere near the team.

I totally understand your point of view. I myself only have mild interest in Brown. If I hear Cleveland doesn't even bother trying to contact the guy, I won't lose a minute of sleep over it. Because he's not that hot of a player or that vital of a guy. He's the kind of guy that if you get him cheap, great. And if you don't get him, that's cool too because you didn't miss out on a world beater.
