I’m very very surprised how good he’s been.
Great post-game from him. He exudes confidence and says he knew immediately these guys could compete. He is giving them a lot. Had no idea he was this sort of presence.
I'm genuinely wondering if he would want to stay? He has rings, maybe this is a new fun challenge to help a team grow and make the playoffs. This isn't a Channing Frye role, and what are we gonna get for him a 2nd?
I assumed Javale was a knucklehead because he was the star of Shaqtin A Fool. Glad he’s just an occasional goof that actually fills his role quite well.
I feel Boston and Toronto might need a center like Mcgee. If he keeps this up, a contender will consider flipping a nice asset for him, especially if they lose a big to injury.
I love what he brings to this team but sadly he isn't on our timeline.
But I am absolutely enjoying watching him play.
We basically acquired McGee as a Lakers salary dump for which they tossed in a second round pick. Essentially, they paid us to assume his contract, so his value around the league clearly isn't high.
If McGee is that good of a cultural piece for us, why would we want to trade him considering the pittance we'd likely get in return?
They had other financial/personnel motivations in signing Marc Gasol, signing Montrez H, and obviously locking up AD.
We might not get anything for him but McGee is playing at a level I have not seen him reach. We might get a contender or two calling about him depending on injuries, needs, etc.
This is actually pretty impressive work by the FO. Both McGee and Exum arrived as salary dumps, with picks attached, and turned out to be actually useful pieces for the rebuild. The way they have been playing, they might even end up being positive trade assets, if they go that route, though I agree, he seems like a good guy to keep around. For his off-court role, yes, but also as a savvy veteran big who can help the perimeter players on defense and can also do a passable job of play making from the elbow that this team prizes so much.We basically acquired McGee as a Lakers salary dump for which they tossed in a second round pick.
