b mac you dont have to call me out like that. giving paul byrd 7 mill a year is a lot of money. he did have a great walk to inning ratio but i would have like to seen something different.

were a small market team because of a cheap owner. if dolan spends more money then we wont be a small market team bro. their wont be any money left over. that was our signing, the big offseason move was to get paul byrd.

maybe he will suprise us but im not counting on it.

well probably see blake out in right, and see him take the first pitch of every at bat right down the middle.

Cavincali,
Yea those 2000 innings would be a bit much. Hit an extra 0 on the keyboard.

Byrd isn't a bad signing but I agree this is probably the big FA signing that the Indians will make this offseason. I still would have gone with a younger pitcher who could have be signed for similar money.
They're still connected to Trevor Hoffman but I see him taking more money elsewhere.

I think I have as good a chance of being an Indian as Manny Ramirez. There's no way Dolan takes on that contract even if Boston picks up a lot of it.

well guys check this out, byrd was 12-11 last season with the angels who are a decent hitting team but not great, and if the indians can sign aleast a decent right fielder then the indians have a great thats right i said it a GREAT offence which will make byrd and all the other guys even. and with cliff lee still there im already happy.

I'm having second thoughts about Nomar. He could be solid. Good right handed batter, slip him right behind Vic and we should be good.

I thought he was a bum, but he's a trooper, fighting through injury and coming up big. I won't be too disappointed if he were an Indian next season.

But go after Griffey. That would be the best thing to do.

Schmeh. Manny would be good for the team. As a player. As a guy that signed a contract... we can't take the millions he's making. No way Shapiro pays that much money. If he wanted to, then he would have opened the pocketbooks himself. He definitely had the chance.

Boston would pay Manny's salary if we gave them the right prospects.

But Dolan wont pay $8 mill for Manny, which is a STEAL. And Crapiro wont give up the prospects.

Depending on the prospects I may consider...we can't just load up on the farm team forever, we gotta cough up some of them to get more talent and contend at the big league level, I take pride in us having like the top notch farm system but eventually somethings gotta give.

Dolan would be a fool not to pay Manny $8 mil. We were set to pay Giles a deal close to what he has right now: 3 year, 30 mil. To get Manny for 8 mil a year is an absolute steal, I agree, and I would do that in a second. Getting him back here would leave a sour note for the rest of the offseason. Right up until we start out with a 15 game win streak, with Manny batting .400, 20 RBI's. We'll warm up to him real quick once we realize how much we needed a solid bat.

but would you want to get rid of coco and someone else to get him. i wouldnt.

Byrd turned down more money and more years elsewhere to sign a two-year, $14.25 million contract Monday with the Indians, the club's first move in what could be a busy few days at the winter meetings in Dallas.

Coco and prospects for Manny?

Yes, ten out of ten times you do that, Manny is the best hitter in baseball, period.

Yeah we have so many prospects in the field it's insane, we got that Franklin Gutierrez who like tore up the minors as much or more then Sizemore, he is a burner too, Coco and some p's and have the Bosox pick up some of mannys contract, swallow the anger from when he left and move on.

they might even want more than just coco, maybe another starter.

Boone or Broussard take em both or pick one. :)

They can have whoever they want outside of the big four.

Who do you consider the big four?

Hafner, Vic, Peralta, Sizemore? or Belliard?

Coco is solid, and I love him in right field, but if you give me Manny, then it's no question of what you do. It's like saying... I don't want to give up Varejao in a deal for Elton Brand... just to throw out a random example. It's just not a question.

The Sox aren't stupid, they would want prospects. Not any of the BB guns... Broussard, Blake, Boone.. not going anywhere in a deal.. they just sucked too bad last season. But if they lose Damon..... then they might be interested in either Coco or Sizemore, they'd push for Sizemore.

Question: Would you give up Sizemore for Manny?

Huge question.

I wouldn't. Sizemore is integral to our team already, he's already solid, and will be much more for years to come. Manny will give us 2-3 good years.
