My point is - there's always going to be a penalty. There's always going to be an injury. A botched play on defense. Our defense consistently becomes tired in the 2nd half because they're not getting off the field, due to the style of defense. Maybe Chubb doesn't fumble again the rest of the year, but what about Kareem? What about Jarvis? What about a strip sack on Baker?

I'm not looking at the individual screwups - those type of things will happen in some form or fashion. We can't control that. What I AM looking at is the things we can control. The same coverages all game, the repetition the Chiefs showed on offense.

I know they're HELLA hard to beat - I predicted a loss, go check the regular season thread. I expected a loss, but I just wanted to see something a bit more from the defense on the coverage side of things. A little more creativity will make it less predictable and lower the floor of the opposing team.

I understand what you’re getting at, but there was a reason the Chiefs were super repetitive on offense: the Browns couldn’t do anything to stop it. There was zero reason to change what they were doing, and between Mahomes, Hill, and Kielce, they can exploit you at every level.

At this point JOK is probably the key moving forward for this D against the Chiefs. If he can’t eventually become a guy that sticks to TEs, KC will be difficult for the Browns to beat. You have to find a way to slow down either Hill or Kelce or else you’ll eventually be playing catch up.

Chiefs OL looks better this year as well. Will be interesting to watch how that unit develops over the year and if they’re able to stay healthy.

Only super disappointing aspect of the result was with the Bills kind of unexpectedly losing to Pittsburgh today, would have been such a big odds swing for home field in the AFC.

Would have put us a game up on both the other top contenders and given us the tie breaker over KC. Tough to swallow from a big picture home field perspective.

A lot of positives but the second game in a row against this team where the result was a big disappointment relative to how the game set up and the opportunity in front of the team.

First half or first quarter? Because the first half score of the playoff game was 19-3.

Bollocks.

My family were all "get off your phone" at the end of the fact check.

Well, anyways, very few teams have done it even once. Tack on the 49ers in the Super Bowl, Vikings in their 2019 prime, a good 2018 Seahawks, and 2020 Falcons pulling a great game out of their bird-asses.

It's pretty damn rare.

This team definitely has upgraded its talent and speed on defense… JJ3 was so nice to watch, he seemed to always be around the ball. The bomb to Hill was a fluke that he could’ve easily picked off as he was in the right position and tracking Hill. Offense is an oiled machine and missing one of its bigger weapons in OBJ. We’re on KC level talent wise and Baker looks like he’s going to take that jump into elite category. Things looking good in Cleveland, even though that loss stung. We’ll get them in January.

Eh...this is a bit of a worthless stat. Wonder if the other three teams took losses as well

It means the initial plan was solid, the adjustments need to be made to the second half.

Unfortunately, Reid will continue to be one of the best at digesting a first half scheme and drawing up effective counters.

That's just the reality of playing the very talented team who has been to the SB two years in a row.

Woods approach seems to be death by a thousand paper cuts. I guess that could be a good thing in the sense that you limit possessions, but giving up easy pitch and catch to Kelce and Hill isn’t exactly a recipe for success. Mahommes isn’t the type of guy that is going to make boneheaded mistakes if you force him to make enough throws.

If it weren’t for the boneheaded turnovers from the offense and special teams, everyone would be praising Woods and saying his defensive strategy actually ended up working. That first half was really good for us.

There were a couple of unfortunate things. The Chubb fumble, the Hammer fumble were things that are hard to come back from against a team like KC.

But for me I was really disappointed that Johnson couldn't turn his head in time to see and track the ball on Mahome's lucky chuck to Hill. I understand he's watching Hill to track and stay with him. But if, the second he saw Hill look for the ball, Johnson could have turned his head? Johnson was in perfect position to pick off that wounded duck of a throw. That would have been a game changer in our favor instead of against us.

You could describe me as Anti-Joe Woods but open to changing my mind about him if I get new information.

Today I felt good about what he did. I need to see more than one game, but today was not on him. I'm encouraged.
