Week 5: Browns @ Titans (1:00 P.M. CBS)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One of those games where you keep on watching because they do just enough to say that well, they're in this if everything goes right... Score 3 points and then a TD just before the half. Locker gets hurt (I can't believe that was actually crucial to the win, but Jake Locker was kicking our asses. If he doesnt hit his hand on Skrine's helmet, this would have been a 70-6 game). Then bone-headed after bone-headed penalty by the... wait for it, not Browns! Some BS "revenge" personal foul stops a decent looking Titans drive, TWO turnovers overruled by double penalties. Wisenhunt gives the ball back with 3 minutes and 42 yards left, and Benjamin does enough to ensure he has a roster spot.

Cant say it was pretty, but a win is a win. Only decision that Pettine made management wise that I questioned was not going for the FG at the end of the 3rd quarter but a lucky punt block gave us the point we needed there.

I'm just amazed that the Browns seem to be learning how to close games...2 for 4 is an improvement...

I'll happily eat some crow here.

I'm glad Benjamin got involved in the passing game. My point about him not being on the roster was rooted moreso in the fact that he's usually used as an (awful) return man and a trick play specialist. If he can regularly be in the passing game, he might be worth holding on to. That said, his first touchdown pass had little to do with his own skill set; the defender fell down and Benjamin had nobody near him.

I'm not backing off the mediocrity comments regarding Hoyer. He's mediocre. He was just barely good enough to beat this Titans team today.
If Locker doesn't get hurt, I don't think the Browns ever get back into this game.

This game was gift wrapped to the Browns just like they gave the last game to the Ravens. That Titans team is awful. Until the Browns can beat a quality opponent on an important stage, I can't buy into them being anything better than a possible 7-9 team.

Hopefully they can use these poor opponents to build momentum and continue to grow into a stronger team. I really believe that the talent is there, and I see no reason to blame Pettine or Shannahan for their struggles thus far.

really,,

looked like a complete team effort to trn themselves around in the 2nd half.

The defense gave up no points
Special teams blocked a punt and got a safety
Tate ran for 123 yards.
Of course it's a team effort, but you Hoyer naysayers are funny.

He set the tone and the team followed. If he didn't play so great we are in no position to win

Actually, throwing the ball at the end was a huge risk. We gave Tennessee multiple opportunities to get within field goal range. He should have burned some clock.

...but good for Hoyer throwing the game winning touchdown. He made some big plays down the stretch.

Hahahaha

Yeah I hate scoring game winning TD's too. I love how you act like we shouldn't have scored the 6 when we did. You take the points-- every time.

Give Shanny his props. He's been a huge bright spot here putting Hoyer and our misfit WR's in positions to succeed on every down.

TB beat PIT and NO so far.

WRONG.

Benjamin cutoff his route, shook the defender and cut back to the weak side of the field. It was a big time play by Benjamin..... he made that play with his skill set.

I think it's funny we were one of the worst teams in the league last year, and we find a way to bitch about a win. Does not matter how we win if we win. All 4 games we have been in it and could won.

I don't think Hoyer is anything great but .... that wasn't really all him, the defense spotted the Titans 28 points...

Yeah something about losing by a field goal twice sticks in the back of my mind. Hilarious.

Isn't that pretty normal stuff for when you see the quarterback in trouble? Scramble off routes and try to get open where you are more easily seen?

Still in shock. Still don't know if this team is worth anything, but, regardless, they're 2-2. They should be 3-1, but I'll take it.

I completely agree. The defense looked bad early. But the offense established the running game from the get go. The passing game took a while to catch up, especially on third down.
