Week 9: Browns vs Cardinals

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to see our offense in shotgun. 11, 12, and 21 personnel.

Early on I think we should deploy some simple concepts. Inside zone runs. Screens. Maybe some RPOs. 3-step drops. Give Deshaun simple reads and let him feel out his arm.

Then as the game go on, I do want to see some bigger shots. 7-step dropbacks. This Cardinals defense has terrible coverage with terrible pass rush. We will probably be able to give Deshaun the blocking he needs to build his comfort level. I watched us block very well against the Seahawks for PJ who was able to scan the field on some deeper dropbacks. I think we can do the same against the Cardinals with Deshaun.

Our defense just need to play their game, nothing special. Clayton Tune was a gunslinger in college... if he's starting his first game, there WILL be opportunities to make big plays. Catch the damn ball. Let's get Myles to 2+ sacks to surpass TJ.

Cardinals are down to a roster that's on par with the 2016 Browns. Jump on them early and get Deshaun out of there before the 4th. Let him get some confidence and get ready for next week.

Are we allowed to be upset if Watson doesn’t play well today?
No, he either plays a flawless game or he's shit and we get to hear "$230 million for what?" all week like the fans are the one cutting the check.

Always a great time.

lol. why would this be any different than any other week? we all know this board likes to share every single little negative thought that comes in their heads. :banghead:

If this is anything like the Titans game…it’ll be completely unlike every other game Watson has played for the Browns!

You can feel however you want. As for myself I'll be grading Watson on a curve today with lowered expectations. I'll be happy if he 1) gets through the game healthy, 2) makes the right reads, 3) makes the easy throws, and 4) shows some awareness when it comes to protecting himself from hits.

I fully expect Stefanski to "manage" Watson, to ease him back into the flow, and above all else, to facilitate Watson getting into a rhythm with his passing. Give something to build on for next week.

There are no excuses to lose today. Losing is not an option.

We're home, have our starting QB, and generally pretty healthy.

The Cardinals have won 1 game and are starting a rookie late round QB making his first career start.
