I was worried too. He almost seemed disinterested in the pre-season which had me worried.

An interested and engaged Mobley is going to be a very good player in this leage.

Then next year we can use our 2nd round pick to draft his brother, lol. (1st round has to be a true SF of some sort)

Edit: Then hire their dad to be a big man coach.
His name is Isiah, correct? I think he was in for a pre-draft workout this year. I'm guessing we move heaven and Earth to get him here next year as high as the late 20s if need be.

He seems to be a mid 2nd round pick to me. He might not have gotten drafted this year. He will be the best player on his team, as a freshman and sophomore he was 2nd behind 2 high lottery picks (one being his brother), so he should score more and show of his game better, but he isnt nearly as athletic or as tall as his brother, and he will be a Jr, most likely hurting his stock some.

We will see, but no way do we move heaven and earth to get him, that would be stupid and a waste of a pick. We need a sf a hell of allot more than Isaiah Mobley.

Remember how the Lakers signed Giannis' brother so they could hopefully entice him to LA? And now the Bucks keep him on the roster. Same deal.

They signed Giannis's brother to a min contract, not move back up in the 1st and move heaven and earth to sign Isaiah.

Completely different situation. And Giannis had already won a MVP and they were trying to keep a MVP....and even then, sure if Isaiah is an UFA, they will sign him to a guaranteed min contract, but move up back in the 1st and use allot of draft capital? Come on now, you know better these are different situations.

Hush. I'm keeping my franchise happy.

Hope it transfers into the regular season but man this kid is as advertised so far in these meaningless games

I say we should work on getting him some open catch-and-shoot opportunities as often as possible until he finds his stroke and gets comfortable pulling that trigger. Tell him to take every shot, every time it is there. Then worry about where to go from there once his outside shots start dropping.

If you intend to make an outside shooter of someone who currently has no outside shot, I'd say you do the overwhelming bulk of that work in the offseason. It's about endless reps and fine-tuning technique with a shooting coach.

Even if you accept that we're not winning anything anyway and so it doesn't matter if one guy is treating an actual NBA season as (possibly fruitless) target practice, it's destructive to team morale. You don't want that, whatever the overall goal.

Touches and shots are capital for players in this league. We all know Mobley is the golden boy right now, but there's still limits to how much should be just handed to him. This season, he should work his ass off on defense and get scoring and playmaking opportunities near the paint.

I'm talking about for the first few weeks of the season. At the moment Mobley just looks tentative taking jumpers, he's not getting many attempts, and on most of those he's having to create off the dribble on the perimeter. I'm saying he should be getting more chances to catch and shoot off of ball rotation, and pick and pop plays that are run for him. You keep saying Mobley has no outside shot as though it's true, and I think you're wrong about that. His form is fine, he just needs to see the ball go in a few times so he gets more relaxed and unconscious pulling the trigger.

We've had to do this with several of our players including Sexton. It doesn't hurt a thing, especially early in the season.

Mobley, very quietly, shot a better percentage from three point land in college than Isaac Okoro and Lamar Stevens. The tools are there, but as Buzzdog said it will take time.

How is his FT% and 3PA? Those have historically been the two best predictors of long term 3pt shooting

That’s like saying someone has a better vertical than Kevin Love or shoots free throws better than Ben Simmons.
