Mobley is a lot more athletic than I thought. Weak side defense presence and the ability to contest shots defensively as well as his ability to drive to hoop with the smooth finger roll. His shot will get better from outside so it was good to see him take shots but he’s going to be our best player.

My Grandparents spoke Yiddish although very seldom around me. I know some Yiddish, lol.
My dad did and passed away when I was 11. My mom who is Italian/Irish and not the least bit Jewish still speaks it.

I still speak it and now my wife and son do too. Many of my friends who I used it around picked it up as well. So all these people with literally no connection to it are running around using Yiddish in their households and confusing people around them which pleases me.

It’s a language that people love using. Very expressive and many of the words have funny meanings even without hearing the words themselves.

The fact that Jews have about 50 different ways to call a person an asshole, with subtle variations on exactly WHY they’re an asshole tells you all you need to know about the language.

Went back and watched Mobley in the tournament today and man it was such a treat.
Against Drake he was clearly the top talent in the game.

A smooth 17-11. Dominated the game defensively.

against Kansas , Mobley only scored 10 points(4-6 from the field tho) but stoop absolutely dominated the game in so many areas. 13rebounds 4 offensive. 5 assists. 3 blocks. 1 steal. Only 1 turnover. 27mins They blew 3seed Kansas out by 34 ps. They couldn’t do a damn thing to near or around or about Mobley.

Against Oregon he had a modest 10-8-6 2blocks but when you look at how well he did offensively to make plays and get the ball to his guards…White and Eaddy…both of whom went off for 20+ on a combined 15–21 from the field. This game he used his passing and defense to control the game and overcome a monster performance by Omoruyi on the wing (28-10) to beat Oregon by double digits.

even against Gonzaga where the entire USC team was outmatched In skill and experience, Mobley put up 17-5-3. Shot 7-8 from the FT line. But couldn’t overcome Jalen Suggs carving up
USC guards on his way to a near triple double 18-10-8 as they ripped apart the USC zone. That was a coaching and guard failure more than anything…Mobley held his own against the older Timme who had 23 but needed 19 shots to get there.

Mobley’s tournament play is exactly what we’re seeing so far in the preseason. As he develops his offensive game over time like every big man of his caliber before him(like AD, etc)…I mean it’s already advanced as hell for his age…if he played 4 years in college he’d probably be dropping 25-15-5 a night on 60%+ from the floor, lol.

just was an absolutely elite prospect. He’s the surest thing the Cavs have had since drafting Kyrie who was basically the surest thing since LeBron. It can’t be understated how ELITE of a prospect Mobley is. I think he’s clearly a better prospect than Ayton was and it’s not even particularly close. Better than Wiseman and not close.

We are so lucky to have him. That is all.

I do wish we would run more plays where we give Mobley the ball above the 3pt line, clear out and let him work. Even if we did it 1 time per quarter. I think it would help him develop those skills that he obviously has, develop confidence…etc etc.

Do you think that JBB is capable of maximizing his skills offensively?

I honestly don't know -- never been one to follow other coaches around the league very much so I don't know what to expect of him, or what he's capable of.

I don’t LOVE JBB but I think Mobley is good enough to where as long as he’s not actively standing in the way of Mobleys development…this dude’s gonna show up and show out regardless

I think JBB will do a great job of bringing him
Along defensively from the evidence of what we have from JBBs past coaching stints.

Best way to develop him offensively is reps, patience and minutes plus having shooters on the floor with him and a guard who can get him the ball.

I dunno. Right now I wouldn’t make him take more than one dribble to get into his scoring zone. Mobley is a beanpole with a high center of gravity and no 3pt shot to speak of. That means he can probably be defended on the perimeter by a much smaller but stronger guy. Not ideal.

I’d let him get used to playing as a mobile 5, receiving the ball on the move closer to the hoop or letting him make plays from the high post.

May you grow like an onion my friend. (one of my favorites)
